VCT Americas Week 5 came to an end on May 2nd 2023. After going through Super week, the teams gladly welcomed the usual one game per week strategy. This week, 2 teams have secured their spots in the playoffs, while the others still have a ways to go.

Game 1: NRG vs 100 Thieves

NRG have managed to stay in the game and level their tally to 3-3, as they beat 100 Thieves 2-0. NRG had quite a dominating performance on both maps. On Bind, they had a strong defense in the first half, which allowed them to capitalize on it and win the map 13-7. Fracture was an even more dominant affair, where NRG showed an attacking masterclass, ending the first half 11-1, and winning the game 13-3.

Game 5: LOUD vs KRU

Probably the most anticipated game of the week, we saw League Leaders LOUD take on what is arguably the worst team in VCT Americas, KRU. However, KRU did not fare too bad for themselves, as they managed to put up quite a fight, before conceding 2-1 in the series. KRU took the first map Pearl 13-10, after a great attacking side in the second half. Moving on to Ascent, they seemed quite confident, managing to take and hold the lead. But LOUD finally took the win at 13-11 after a 6 round win streak. Final map was Split, where KRU put up a good fight, but LOUD’s attack was just too much for them to handle, and they conceded the map 13-10.
