The Story So Far: Valorant Challengers Ascension Americas

The Playoffs for the Valorant Challengers Ascension Americas started on the 4th of July. The 6 participating teams went head-to-head in a playoff bracket to secure the Ascension, and qualify for next year’s VCT Americas League.

Upper Bracket Quarter Finals:

FUSION made it into the next round into the UB Semi Finals as they beat 00 Nation 2-0 in their matchup. The LATAM team had a comfortable victory against the Brazilian side, as they won both Ascent and Fracture at 13-4 and 13-11 respectively.

On the other side, it was M80 who won their series 2-0 against LATAM side 9z. The North Americans managed to get into the next round after winning Split and Lotus at 13-9 and 13-4 respectively.

Upper Bracket Semi Finals:

The Union had already made their way to the Semi Finals for topping their group in the Group Stages. This meant that they went up against FUSION. This matchup was in favor of the Brazilian side. The Union managed to beat FUSION 2-0 in the series, as they won Pearl and Fracture with relative ease at 13-7 and 13-8 respectively.

The Guard were the second hurdle in the UB Semi Finals, as they went up against M80. This North American derby went the way of The Guard. M80 tried to put up a fight, but they were quickly shut down. The Guard won both maps Haven and Ascent 13-9 and 13-7 respectively.

Upper Bracket Finals:

The Union and The Guard went head to head in the Upper Bracket Finals. The Guard managed to clinch the victory and move ahead into the Grand Finals of Valorant Challengers Ascension Americas, becoming the first team to do so. . The Union managed to take Map 1 Fracture after it had been pushed into Overtime at 16-14. But The Guard bounced back, and won the remaining maps Ascent and Pearl in a dominating 13-2 and 13-7 scoreline respectively.

Lower Bracket Quarter Finals:

M80 were pitted against 00 Nation in the LB Quarterfinals after their loss against The Guard. Things fared a lot better for them this time, as they managed to beat 00 Nation 2-0 in the series. Both Split and Lotus went the way of M80, as they won 13-10 and 1307 respectively.

On the other side of the round, it was a LATAM derby as 9z were pitted against FUSION. 9z managed to come out on top of this matchup, as they beat their rivals 2-0. They managed to take both maps with quite the comfortable lead. Split and Ascent went the way of 9z as they won 13-4 and 13-9 respectively.

M80 are set to face 9z in the Lower Bracket Semi Finals. 

The winner of that matchup will go up against The Union. And whoever comes out on top of that series will become the second Grand Finalist of Valorant Challengers Ascension Americas.. They will have to go up against The Guard for a shot at Promotion.
