The Nerve of Some: Disguised announces final member of lineup for NA VCL Split 2

Disguised have just announced the newest member of their men’s Valorant roster, Michael “nerve” Yerrow. “nerve” will join Disguised’ roster just in time for the start of Split 2 and is replacing Damion “XXiF” Cook on the roster. The latter was reported to have been released from the roster last week, and Disguised were reportedly searching for a new fifth.

Re-Assembly

After a respectable but disappointing end to their Split 1 VCL run, Disguised were looking to make roster changes to revamp their firepower. With the departure of Drake “Exalt” Branly mid-way through the split, Disguised were forced to wrap up the rest of the split with substitute Chris “riku” Piasecki. Despite the latter performing extremely well, Disguised were unable to make it deep in the Mid-Season Face Off event and finished 7th-8th in the tournament.

Following that tournament conclusion, it was then announced that “XXiF” would be parting ways with the roster, marking the departure of the second member of the original core, as well as two thirds of the former-Knights core trio that had joined Disguised. Amgalan “Genghsta” Nemekhbayar is the final remaining member of the aforementioned Knight’s core still on Disguised.

At the conclusion of Split 1 and the Mid-Season Face Off, “riku” was announced to be parting ways with Disguised, leaving Disguised with three members. Earlier this month, it was announced in a hype reveal, that former Cloud9 star Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker would be joining the roster to fill the void left by “Exalt” full time. Now, with the departure of “XXiF”, “nerve” has been announced to replace him.

Disguised Journey

In their debut season as an organization and roster, Disguised managed to place 4th in their group (dubbed the group of death), that included other powerhouse organizations such as The Guard, M80, and TSM. Posting a 2-3 record across the first season, 2 of their losses came from facing the teams many consider to be the top in the league. Even then, their match against The Guard was considered one of the most competitive series that the latter played in Split 1.

Nerves of Steel

“nerve” has had an interesting journey as well through the lower trenches of North American Tier 2 Valorant. He is most well-known for his debut time on Cosmic Divide. In late 2022, he joined Susquehanna Soniqs (now known as Soniqs), where he was most well-recognized for his efforts alongside other Soniqs members for the failed qualification run at the NA VCL LCQ at the start of 2023.

After being placed in the lower bracket of the top 16, Soniqs went on a dream run where they won 5 consecutive series against some of the strongest challenger rosters at the event, including The Nation, that included the likes of well-known figures like Jake “Stewie2k” Yip and Matthew “WARDELL” Yu. Soniqs fell at the final hurdle against OREsports, who achieved the last qualification spot for the NA VCL in 2023.

“nerve” is well-versed in a number of agents and roles. His most played champion, however, is Killjoy, an agent that “XXiF” specialized in as well. Most likely, he will be slotting into Disguised as the de facto new sentinel specialist.  “nerve” was one of the players who trialed for Cloud9 in the wake of the departure of “yay” and Anthony “vanity” Malaspina. In an ironic twist of fate, he will now be playing alongside “yay” on Disguised as they compete for the top of the league, and qualification for Ascension later this year.

Disguised's roster going forward will look as follows:

  • Joshua "steel" Nissan
  • Joseph "clear" Allen
  • Amgalan "Genghsta" Nemekhbayar
  • Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker
  • Michael "nerve" Yerrow
