After a long week, Team Liquid has become the first team to successfully defend a title at PGL Wallachia, winning Season 4. The Grand Finals were a long best-of-five series with a dramatic ending after an intense, hour-long battle on the fifth map.

PARIVISION earned a close second place but unfortunately could not take the top spot from Liquid. This tournament is the second edition of the PGL Wallachia in 2025, with the next iterations scheduled for June 18 and November 4.

Team Liquid: Almost Ready for TI

Let's go through the journey of both finalists leading up to the Grand Finals of the PGL Wallachia Season 4. First, we have Team Liquid, who advanced from the group stage in Round 4 alongside Tundra Esports and BetBoom Team.

The current Aegis defenders secured three victories during the Group Stage against relatively weaker teams. However, they also lost to Team Falcons, who were eliminated and finished the tournament in 9th place.

After an apparently underwhelming Group Stage, Liquid made their way to the Upper Bracket Finals. There, they were defeated by PARIVISION but rebounded by eliminating Tundra Esports in the Lower Bracket Finals.

Despite the relatively easy path, they reached the Grand Finals with the disadvantage of having played an extra match earlier that day. Whether this added more pressure or served as a much-needed warm-up is debatable.

PARIVISION: The Easy Way Is Not Always the Best Way

On the other hand, PARIVISION made a stellar showing at PGL Wallachia Season 4. They qualified in the earliest possible round, alongside Team Spirit, by defeating AVULUS, Edge, and Team Falcons with clean 2-0 victories.

Out of all the matchups in the Group Stage, PARIVISION versus Team Falcons was the closest we had to a truly competitive clash. Winning so convincingly against Falcons left a strong impression, and this form continued into the playoffs.

Even PARIVISION’s final match in the Upper Bracket suggested they held the upper hand going into the Grand Finals. As mentioned, they beat Team Liquid 2-1 to reach the finals first.

Unfortunately, this perceived superiority wasn't enough to carry them to ultimate victory. PARIVISION fought fiercely, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth map, but fell just short.

Team Liquid: The Wallachia Defending Champions

Finally, both teams faced off once more in the Grand Finals. PARIVISION fell behind early, losing the first two maps. After a long and exhausting effort, the series reached a deciding fifth map, which lasted an epic 72 minutes with constant back-and-forth action.

In the end, Team Liquid prevailed by successfully exhausting PARIVISION’s buybacks. This victory makes Liquid the first team to defend a PGL Wallachia title. If they can replicate this performance at this year’s International, they will become the second team to ever defend the Aegis — and the first to win three Internationals.

Liquid’s win earned them a first-place prize of US$300,000. PARIVISION took home US$175,000 for second place, while Tundra Esports earned US$120,000 for finishing third.

The next stop on the Dota 2 professional circuit is BLAST Slam III. The tournament kicks off on May 5 and runs through May 11. The prize pool is again US$1 million, with an even bigger winner’s share this time around.
