Sweep and a banger: 2023 MSI Playoffs Day 5 recap

T1 won 3-2 against Gen.G, and G2 swept MAD Lions 3-0 on May 13, the fifth match day of playoffs at the 2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) at Copper Box Arena in London, England.

Korea's T1 (League of Legends Champions Korea/LCK, #2) advances victorious from the 2023 LCK Spring Final rematch, and will face the winner of China's JD Gaming (League of Legends Professional League/LPL, #1) vs. China's Bilibili Gaming (LPL, #2) in the Upper Bracket Final on May 18.

Korea's GEN (LCK, #1) will play next in the Lower Bracket on May 17 against the winner of America's Cloud9 (League of Legends Championship Series/LCS, #1) against America's Golden Guardians (LCS, #2).

G2 avoided elimination and will play on May 16 against the loser of JDG vs. BLG. With their loss, MAD was eliminated from MSI 2023 and finished in 7th-8th place.

Game 1: T1 wins

T1 opened their series against Gen.G with a 12-4 win in 36:39. T1 jungler Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun controlled the game on his 4/2/5 Poppy; mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok finished 2/1/5 as Annie; and bot laner Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong picked upa  5/0/4 score on Jinx. Gen.G fought back against T1 in Game 3 with a 30:44 win in which kills were tied 16-16. GEN jungler Han "Peanut" Wang-ho went 5/3/4 on Wukong; while mid laner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon  's Rumble and bot laner Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan's Jinx each finished 4/2/8.
