Shopify Rebellion Recruits Yopaj for 2024

After a disappointing performance at The International 12 (TI12), Shopify Rebellion announced that they would be revamping their Dota 2 roster. The roster shuffle saw the long-time trio of Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen, and Tal "Fly" Aizik dissolve, with Fly joining Nouns and Cr1t- playing support for Falcons.

Shopify Rebellion decided to skip ESL Kuala Lumpur to focus on assembling the best squad possible. Nearly two months after the conclusion of TI12, we finally get a glimpse of potentially the strongest team in North America.

Shopify was an interesting team to watch during the 2023 Dota 2 season. They had incredible performances in the DPC Tours, taking second place twice and first place in the last league.

Unfortunately, they couldn't replicate that success when facing teams from other regions. The team failed to make it to the top eight in the last two Majors, along with last-place finishes at both Riyadh Masters and TI12, the two biggest tournaments of the year.

That's not a surprising result for the lineup. Back when the team played under the Evil Geniuses banner, they also tended to dominate North American teams and faltered when facing stiffer competition.

Well if you can't beat them, then you should join them. Shopify decided to reach out to other regions and bring in new blood. Erin Jasper "Yopaj" Ferrer, one of the best mid laners from Southeast Asia joined the squad. One of Yopaj's greatest strengths is his creativity, he pioneered mid-lane Snapfire and hopefully, he can bring that sense of imagination to Shopify.

Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek will resume his tenure as the team's offlaner. Frankly SabeRLight- looked better when he was a part of TSM, but hopefully, he can find his rhyme in the lane with Thiago "Thiolicor" Cordeiro. The South American support likes to play aggressively and take risks, a potentially good combination with Jonáš.

Lastly, Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi takes on the hard support role. Kitrak recently played with OG Esports and proved himself in the Western Europe scene. Time will tell if he can do the same in North America.
