2.0 is here.

Following the early success of the Disguised Valorant rosters, as well as the League of Legends roster’s current success, Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang has unveiled his latest project. The original DSG lineup may have failed to make Ascension in the North American Valorant Challengers League (VCL), but both that lineup, as well as the first iteration of the DSG Game Changers roster, broke viewership records and paved the way for other content creator orgs to see potential in funding rosters in these titles.

Whilst the both the original DSG lineup and the Game Changers roster have both been let go, the League of Legends Challengers roster is still going strong, currently placed 3rd in the league, behind Team Liquid and FlyQuest.

DSG Second Bid in Game Changers

As he had promised in his initial attempts to construct a Game Changers roster, “Disguised Toast” has assembled a promising Game Changers squad constructed of both seasoned veterans and up-and-coming rookies in the scene. Unlike the first version, the roster includes no content creators or influencers.

Instead, the roster consists of the veteran double threat of former Gen.G Black Hannah “hannah” Reyes and former VersionX Katherine “Katarina” Patrone. They form the backbone of the roster and are highly rated by the community as strong players. Alongside them will be three newcomers, including 16-year-old “misu”, cracked duelist main “unstable”, and initiator savant Nathan “nathn” Hoang.

DSG Makes Up for Criticisms

The first version of the Game Changers roster, which has since been released after they competed in the first 2023 Game Changers open qualifiers, was on the receiving end of criticism by fans and Game Changers players in equal measure. One of the main concerns was that the roster had been assembled from content creator and influencer friends of “Disguised Toast”. Despite his early admission that he had insufficient time to assemble a proper roster and that that roster was primarily just to generate viewership, some still felt that the opportunity could have been given to more ‘deserving’ individuals within the scene who had ‘grinded’ longer. Read the original report here to see the full story.

Experience and Talent

If taking the early rosters as experiments and lessons, this roster has the best combination, with an experience coach and mix of young talent and experienced veterans. Head coach Chris “chrisyong” Yong most recently coached OREsports, a team who by the end, had become the bane of DSG’s existence in the NA VCL. Previously, he had also coached Misfits Black, so he comes in with prior Game Changers experience.

“Katarina” has played in 3 Game Changers series across three different rosters (placed 7th-8th). She has also participated in a further 5 qualifiers with those rosters. Meanwhile, “hannah” has played 3 Game Changers series as well (placed 5th-6th). She has played a whopping 7 qualifiers, mostly for Gen.G Black.

OREsports themselves battled through Open Qualifiers to earn their NA VCL slot this year. So, if there were any three individuals that could lead this roster through the wilderness, they would be a pretty good fit.

Disguised Game Changers will make their debut at the Game Changers Open Qualifiers on July 14th. To not miss that, and other Valorant related events and news, follow Strafe Esports.
