It’s time for the Rocket League Championship Series to hot up again this year! Of course, there are several different regions competing but this weekend, it’s time to focus on the EU. Not only will the winners of this year’s Worlds be competing but so are some of the top teams in the world.

Breaking down the tournament

What?

The EU Fall Invitational is a tournament where the top teams from the European region will go head to head in order to win monetary prizes and, more importantly, RLCS points that could land them in both Majors and Worlds next year. The top team will earn a huge 16 points but everyone will get a small slice of the pie. Even the last finishing teams will earn 2 points.

When?

Fall Invitationals have been taking place over the last couple of weeks. The EU one will begin on November 11th and continue until the 13th. That’s a whole lot of Rocket League to be played in just a couple of days!

Who?

It goes without saying that all eyes will fall on Team BDS’ matchups this weekend. As the winners of this year’s Worlds, many teams will be out to see if they can beat the best this early on in the season. Not only that but previous Major winners Moist Esports will be taking part in this tournament alongside some of the most famous orgs in the world including Team Liquid, EG, Team Vitality and Tundra.

How?

This tournament is divided into two sections with different formats. The Swiss stage will be a, you guessed it, 16-team Swiss system where every series will be a best of 5. From there, the playoffs will be a single elimination format where all of the games will be a best of 7. Fans are certainly in store for some nail-biting Rocket League!

Who will come out on top? Our predictions

Anyone who follows Rocket League esports knows that the games are not particularly easy to predict. That’s kind of what makes them so much fun to watch! It’s certainly worth taking a team’s match history into account but it by no means guarantees a win.

That being said, some teams do stand out above others, even in this regional format. For example, Team Liquid have yet to win an A or B Tier tournament in Rocket League, but they have consistently placed in the top 10 in various events. Perhaps this is the year that they make a real difference. As one of the top esports orgs, it is a little surprising that they’ve yet to pull out a win.

Similarly, some of the smaller orgs, including Moist, have consistently placed very highly in a number of top tier events, including the Spring Split Major. Although they fell a little short at Worlds, it’s clear that they have the drive and the ability to become extremely successful. It seems that their focus on Rocket League is really paying off!

No matter who comes out on top, one thing is clear. Fans are certainly in for a treat at this Invitational. It’s a good idea to get in at the ground level if you’re looking to follow a particular team’s journey this year!
