On the back of the success of VALORANT in India and South Asia, Riot Games now aims to reintroduce League of Legends into the region. The move has been labelled “reinforces Riot Games’ commitment to the Indian gaming market” by the gaming goliath.

What does that mean for Indian League of Legends fans?

India has no PC League of Legends scene in India for the relatively large consumer base. For the casual enjoyers, the only way to enjoy the game was on European or SEA servers.

However, now Riot Games will be looking to focus on bringing exceptional gaming experience to India. In forthcoming months, Riot Games plans to engage the community via content creator collaborations, localized content, community cups, open tournaments, show matches and more.

Riot will also interact with the community via an exclusive LoL IN/SA discord server.

"We're excited to be bringing League of Legends to the forefront in India. This isn't just a game; it's a global phenomenon that's all about passion, competition, and having a blast. We've seen firsthand how much India loves gaming, and we're here to take that love to the next level. As League reaches its fifteenth anniversary, we're committed to empowering Indian gamers with everything they need to become legends in their own right.”

- Arun Rajappa, Country Manager, India and South Asia

During the year, Riot Games will organize multiple open-for-all LoL tournaments in association with The Esports Club powered by Zotac Gaming.

The first of the tournaments starts today, 11th July and will be followed by subsequent tournaments until the end of the year.

Additionally, there will be a tournament specifically featuring the top content creators, streamers and players in India. The teams will battle for exciting prizes and bragging rights.

With Riot Games' efforts, it will be interesting to see how the Indian market adapts to the game and how the scene will flourish in the region.
