Red Bull Showmatch pits Worlds Champion T1 against European champions G2

Champions of Worlds 2023, T1, are headed for the Red Bull Showmatch. Entitled ‘Red Bull League of Its Own’, it will serve as a showmatch series between T1 and European teams from the LEC, ERLs and even a stream team.

Red Bull Schedule and Format

The event is set to run on the 9th of December, 2023. It will feature the use of a draft format known as ‘Fearless’, in which T1 specifically will be the sole contestant utilizing it.

Fearless format refers to a format where a team will be locked out of all champions that have previously entered the rift in their matches. In this scenario, this will only affect T1. However, every team’s composition that will be run against them, will be taken into account when locking future available champions for the Korean roster.

To further elaborate, in an effort to make the matches more interesting, teams facing T1 will have no such limitations, and will have all champions available to them. The Fearless format will be in effect up until the final showmatch, between G2 Esports and T1.

All matches will be Bo1s, with a total of 7 showmatches. T1 will be playing in 5 of these matches.

Passion Project Turned Mega Hype Event

Originally meant as a simple showmatch between T1 and German teams BIG and Eintracht Spandau, as well as stream team No Need Orga (NNO Old), it quickly turned into something more. Within a short period of time Team Heretics, Karmine Corp, and G2 Esports were also added to the lineup.

Predictions for Notable Matchups

BIG versus EINS is a notable opening course for the day, pitting two rivals against one another (both compete in the Prime League). The winner of which will get to face current Worlds Champion, T1.

The other notable series all includes T1 towards the end of the day. In successive order, T1 will face Karmine Corp, Team Heretic, and G2 Esports. This will mark the new Karmine Corp’s and Team Heretics’ rosters first competitive debut. To cap off the evening, T1 vs defending LEC Champions, G2 Esports.

Where to Watch?

This event will be live-streamed on Twitch and YouTube. Moreover, AfreecaTV will also come into the fore, offering streams for the T1 players, and even a Faker POV stream.
