The world of esports is about to witness a historic moment as PGL, one of Valve’s many partners for tournament organizers, will host the first Counter Strike 2 Major in Copenhagen, Denmark, from March 17 to 31, 2024. The event will feature 24 of the best teams from around the world competing in the Royal Arena for a prize pool of $1.25 million and the prestigious title of First CS2 Major champions.

The New Major Hype:

Counter Strike 2 is the latest installment of the legendary first-person shooter franchise that has been dominating the esports scene for over two decades. The game was announced by Valve recently during the ESL Pro League Season 17 Playoffs. It is an overhaul to every system, every piece of content, and every part of the CS experience. The game features new graphics, new mechanics, new sounds, and new challenges for both players and spectators.

PGL has a proven track record of delivering high-quality esports events with cutting-edge production and innovative features. The company has hosted several CS:GO Majors in the past, including the PGL Major Kraków 2017 and the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Which was the second biggest Counter-Strike tournament of all time with over 68 million hours watched.

One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn't be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years. Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we are excited to bring the world's best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game's most prestigious title. Our ambition for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 is to break the game's all-time viewership records.

Silviu Stroie, PGL CEO
