Mertai "Mersa" Sari, a player for Team Heretics, took to Twitter to announce a hiatus from competitive League of Legends. Revealing that he wasn't able to secure a spot in the upcoming 2024 LEC season. In his thoughtful post, Mersa sheds light on the reasons behind his break and outlines his plans for the future.

Reflecting on the Past Season

The journey for Mersa and his team during the winter and spring splits didn't unfold as expected. Despite facing challenges with a roster that didn't quite "click," the summer split showcased significant improvement. Mersa points out that the team's performance, although not sufficient to secure a World Championship spot due to the new format, yielded positive feedback from both the coaching staff and management.

A Positive Departure

Notably, Mersa emphasizes that his departure from Team Heretics is not a result of shortcomings in his gameplay or communication. This positive feedback serves as a silver lining amid the disappointment of not making it to Worlds.

The Greek Support reveals his decision to take a split off from competitive play. This break, he says, will be an opportunity to focus on personal matters. And also allow him to immerse himself in the world of streaming. Adding a touch of humor, he mentions that becoming a good puppy parent is also on the agenda during this time off.

A Return in the Summer

Despite the hiatus, Mersa expresses his intention to return to professional play by the summer split, ensuring that he will be in top form for the challenges ahead. This commitment to maintaining peak performance hints at an unwavering dedication to his career in competitive gaming.

In the competitive realm of esports, Mersa's decision to step back invites reflection on the unpredictable nature of professional gaming careers. As he embarks on a journey of personal growth, the League of Legends community eagerly anticipates his return in the summer split.
