LCS Playoffs Upper Bracket Round 1: TSM vs EG
The 2023 LCS Summer Split Playoffs kicked off with a close Bo5 series with TSM vs EG! Here's how the games went and who ended up victorious.
Game 1: Putting the "Insane" in Insanity

TSM set the stage with dominance in their first game of the Bo5 series against EG. TSM Mid Laner David "Insanity" Challe and Jungler Lee "Bugi" Seong-yeop showed a perfect tag team duo from the beginning to end of the game they found picks and consistently won skirmishes and fights.
In the early game, Bugi made multiple invades with Insanity's mid lane priority and found favorable fights. In the mid game, EG unfortunately was unable to pick a fight with TSM that ended in victory, let alone going even.
Transitioning a baron power play and securing ocean dragon soul into a one-sided team fight, TSM closed out the game at 25:17 minutes with an 8.3k gold lead.
Game 2: The Gloves Come Off

PENTAKILL!!! EG Top Laner Mohamed "Revenge" Kaddoura achieves a pentakill and ends 18/2/8 in the second game of the series. In an outstanding carry performance by EG Revenge and Mid Laner Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyun, EG was able to dominate teamfights and subsequently the game. Even with TSM's wombo combo style team comp in regards to the Rell and Rumble pick, the veteran organization was unable to win a majority of their team fights for objectives.
EG snaps the series back to an even standing with an 18 kill lead and 16.9k gold lead at a game time of 29:44 minutes.
Game 3: A Bumpy Victory

EG made a strong start for themselves securing three kills for Jojopyun. Snowballing off this with Jojopyun having a KDA of 9/0/1 in the mid game, EG was able to control the map and objectives. However, it was not easy for EG to clear out the game as Support player Jonathan "Chime" Pomponio found members of EG alone, TSM secured those kills, and took any resources they could during the death timers.
Unfortunately for TSM, this was not enough as Jojopyun was too strong and delivered EG a win with a 13.4k gold lead and a game time of 29:53 minutes.
Game 4: Team Diff

TSM shines with the power of teamwork as they secure the fourth game of the series. TSM Bugi brings the best out of his team as he finds pick after pick throughout the entire game. Alongside the team, Insanity brought a powerful turret taker to the comp allowing TSM to develop their short lead to a victory. EG tried their best to fight TSM for epic monster objectives but could not execute a good enough angle for them to come out victorious. After securing Baron Nashor, TSM pushed into EG's base and grabbed a win with a 6.8k gold lead and a game time of 27:11 minutes.
Game 5: Revenge, The Darkin Blade

In a one-sided fifth and final game of the series, EG advances to Round 2 of the Upper Bracket. Revenge showed a first-class performance on Aatrox as he was faced in a 1v3 and even 1v4 situation and still came out on top. UNF0RGIVEN also performed formidably on Aphelios as he productively dished out damage in each team fight. Combine this with Revenge's damage and the utility of the rest of the team, TSM came up short in every encounter and eventually saw their nexus shattered with a gold difference of 15.2k and a game time of 21:22 minutes (the shortest game of the series).
Moving Forward
With all five games played out in the TSM vs EG Bo5 series, EG comes out victorious and advances to Round 2 of the Upper Bracket against Cloud9 on August 5th, 2023. TSM advances to Round 1 of the Lower Bracket against Dignitas on August 3rd, 2023. Incredible performances were played by both teams but the most notable players of this series were Revenge, and Jojopyun with their solo carries on the side of EG. On the side of TSM, look out for Insanity and Bugi as they have shown great Mid/Jungle synergy.
