In a jaw-dropping turnaround, KRÜ Esports defied all odds and secured a spot in the VALORANT Champions after an astonishing run at the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). From going winless in the regular season to claiming victory over Leviatán in the grand finals, KRÜ's underdog story is one for the ages.

The Unlikely Underdogs:

KRÜ Esports emerged as the dark horses of the VCT Americas LCQ, with many writing them off before the playoffs even began. Their journey to the grand finals was marked by impressive victories against formidable teams, including MIBR, FURIA, Leviatán (twice), and top-seeded Cloud9.

The Grand Finals Showdown:

Facing a resurgent Leviatán in the grand finals, KRÜ knew they had to give their all.

Map 1: Split

KRU had a stronghold on Split. Showing off a strong attack side in the first half, Leviatan could only manage to claw back 3 rounds, as KRU completely dominated the half. The first half ended 9-3 in favor of KRU. However, there was no curse this time, as Leviatan managed to win only 2 more rounds in the second half. KRU ended the map at 13-5 in a dominating fashion.

Map 2: Pearl

Leviatan returned the favor on Pearl. KRU had a decent defensive side, but Leviatan managed to push through. They had a decent attacking side, and ended the half 7-5 in favor of KRU. But then Leviathan showed up in the second half with a near perfect defensive side. They only conceded the first round of the second half, before pulling off an 8 round win streak to take the map 13-8.

Map 3: Ascent

KRU again had a strong lead on Ascent. As the map started, Leviatan did put up a good fight in the first half. On their attack, KRU managed to end the first half at 7-5. However, their defense was just too strong for Leviatan to pierce. Leviatan only managed to salvage one more round, before KRU won the map at 13-6.

Map 4: Lotus

Lotus was do-or-die for Leviatan, as this was their last chance to stay in the competition. But KRU had other plans. Both teams were not willing to give up easily, as they were interlocked in the first half. The first half ended 6-6. However, in the second half, KRU were able to show off a better attacking side, which allowed them to secure the map at 13-10.

KRU won the series 3-1 against Leviatan in the Grand Finals of VCT Americas 2023 LCQ.

The Heroic Duelist:

Throughout KRÜ's miraculous 5-0 run, Angelo "keznit" Mori, the team's primary duelist, displayed exceptional prowess and leadership. His outstanding performance earned him the grand finals MVP award, tallying an impressive 73 kills during the series.

A Dream Come True:

KRÜ captain Marco "Melser" Amaro expressed his elation after the momentous victory, calling it a dream come true for the team. With unwavering belief in their abilities, the squad knew they were capable of achieving greatness.

Facing the Next Challenge:

With their spot secured at VCT Champions, KRÜ prepares to face Paper Rex in the group stage. Paper Rex's star player, Ilya "something" Petrov, is set to return, presenting yet another formidable challenge for KRÜ to overcome in their quest for further success.

Conclusion:

KRÜ Esports' remarkable journey from zero to hero is a testament to their determination and teamwork. Defying all expectations, they overcame adversity to secure a spot in VCT Champions. As they gear up to face the next challenge, the world eagerly awaits to witness the magic this underdog team can conjure on the grand stage in Los Angeles.
