Faze UP! : IEM Dallas 2023 Quarter Finals Recap

The Quarter Finals of IEM Dallas 2023 took place on the 2nd of June, and gave us the final two teams that will take part in the Semi Finals.

Game 1: Astralis vs MOUZ

MOUZ surprised everyone, as they continued their amazing form this tournament. They beat Astralis 2-0 in their matchup.

MOUZ removed Overpass

Astralis removed Mirage

MOUZ picked Inferno

Astralis picked Ancient

MOUZ removed Vertigo

Astralis removed Anubis

Nuke was left over

Map 1:

Astralis started off quite strong on Inferno. Picking up 4 rounds straight from the pistol, the Danish outfit ended the first half 9-6 on their CT-side. MOUZ had a similar run in the second half on their own CT-side. Taking 4 rounds straight from the pistol, MOUZ did not allow Astralis to close out the map, as they pushed it into Overtime. Neither team was willing to give up, as we moved on to Overtime 4, where finally, MOUZ pulled off a flawless CT-side to take the map 22-20.

Map 2:

MOUZ looked completely at home on Astralis’ pick of Ancient. The Danish side were completely battered, Dexter and his boys showed off a CT masterclass. The first half ended 10-5 in favor of MOUZ. Astralis had some hope, as they managed to take 4 rounds in the second half, allowing MOUZ to take only 1 round in between. But then MOUZ pulled off a 5 round win streak to end the map 16-9.

MOUZ have advanced onto the Semi Finals of IEM Dallas 2023, where they will face Heroic.

Game 2: G2 Esports vs Faze Clan

Faze Clan managed to beat former IEM Katowice Champions G2 to advance to the Semi Finals. They won 2-1 in their matchup.

FaZe removed Vertigo

G2 removed Overpass

FaZe picked Ancient

G2 picked Inferno

FaZe removed Nuke

G2 removed Anubis

Mirage was left over

Map 1:

Faze had a strong T-side start on Ancient, as they kicked things off with a 7 round win streak right off the bat. G2 did answer back, and did not allow the half to get too far away from them. The first half ended 9-6 in favor of Faze. However, G2 had a strong T-side of their own. Allowing Faze to only take 5 rounds in the second half, G2 won the map 16-14 off the back of a 5 round win streak. And also off the back of a nice 4K from NiKo.

Map 2:

Faze were not about to let this go lightly, as they had an absolutely dominating match on Inferno. Boasting a near perfect CT-side, the former Major Champions only allowed G2 to take 2 rounds, as they ended the first half 13-2. G2 built back some of their confidence, as they managed to take 4 rounds right off the bat in the second half, but Faze quickly shut it down, as they won the map 16-6.

Map 3:

It was a similar story on Mirage. Faze started off strong on their CT-side. Only allowing G2 to take 4 rounds this time, Faze Clan ended the first half 11-4. They continued this momentum in the second half as well, as they got to Map Point first. G2 managed to claw back a few more rounds, before Faze took the map 16-10.

Faze Clan have moved onto the Semi Finals of IEM Dallas 2023, where they will have a revenge matchup against ENCE.
