After Karmine Corp successfully took down FunPlus Phoenix in the opening game of VALORANT Masters Madrid. The former World Champions, LOUD, took on Gen.G.

The two teams played with each other before at the VCT LOCK//IN 2023, Gen.G played with their older team and LOUD with aspas. The rematch had the Brazilians heavily favored against the new Korean super team.

Gen.G 2-1 LOUD

The game started with GenG looking a bit out of shape but they came back to equalize the score in the first half. In the second half, they countered LOUD hard and won the game 13-11.

LOUD completely outclassed Gen.G in the first half of Breeze, the latter did try coming back in the second half but they lost the map 13-8, forcing a third map.

Gen.G again looked out of shape and it seemed LOUD might run away with the game. When asked about what Solo said to his team before the next map, he said:

“The players were struggling on Breeze because they felt like somehow their aims were off. But mainly I told them to forget about Breeze and we only need to win one more map and then we get the W. It’s true that if your aim feels off, it’s gonna affect the next map you play and I thought it was very important to tell the players that let’s just wipe the slate clean, just forget about it and let’s just think about the next map”

The third map had LOUD whip out a Yoru Ascent composition. Unfortunately, GenG completely countered it, winning the third map 13-5, upsetting LOUD.

Talking about the Yoru composition that did not work as well on Ascent, LOUD’s coach stkJ said the following:

“If we had to say something, I’d say Yoru in the defense was a bit of a problem, Qck was always well-positioned but we couldn’t defend some situations perhaps. For example we were caught in the open by the opponent team. But I would like to say QcK is very flexible at playing Yoru and Phoenix, it wasn’t much different for him. But today, it did not happen very well”

When Gen.G was asked about if Yoru pick was a surprise, Coach Solo said:

“Actually what’s funny is actually a couple of days ago when we were scrimming here in Madrid, we were facing a team with a Yoru comp on Ascent, so we were quite familiar with it. So when LOUD locked Yoru, it wasn’t everyone going crazy like ‘Oh My God, it’s Yoru’, it was ‘oh yeah we have seen that before’. I don’t think we were surprised at all”

Saadhak and LOUD will face elimination in the next game, talking about the mistakes they have to fix before the game, he said:

“Oh yeah 100% (we’d have to fix some mistakes), But we’d have to watch the VOD, see what went wrong and I have to get back to you on that one.”
