The Unorthodox Awper: How an "Outsider" Jame became a Major Champion

In CSGO, Awpers are the stars of a team, from the most decorated Dev1ce to the Goat of CSGO S1mple. The AWPers usually do something unorthodox and aggressive, making aggressiveness the norm for AWPers. But one player, Jame, decided against the norm and rose through the memes, criticism and adversaries to lead his team to a Major win.

The Avangar Debut:

Dzhami "Jame" Ali started his Professional CSGO career with Avangar and cemented himself as the CIS's upcoming AWP star. Avangar rose through the CIS tier 2 scene to make a name for himself amongst the talented AWPers in the game. While the team rarely won major tournaments, they were a consistent name in the scene and were amongst the top CIS teams.

The team's peak came when they made a miraculous run in 2019, beating G2, Team Liquid, and Team Vitality to reach the Major Finals. Their miracle run ended after Astralis defeated them 0-2 in the finals.

The Birth of Jame Time:

Despite the performance and number, he was putting in, what made him notorious was his unorthodox, almost passive awping style. Unlike his peers, he doesn't force a fight. Instead, if the round seems lost, he opts for saving the gun, especially the AWP. This smart move, which made jame and Avangar a tough team to beat, led to people criticising him for his actions. While it was the correct way to play, it was rather dull. This led to the meme of Jame-Time, based on his decisions to save in certain situations.

The Virtus Pro rise:

The meme truly shined in the time when Jame joined Virtus Pro back in 2019. With the team, he was the IGL and primary AWPer and quickly rose to become the top team in the world. With Yekinder by his side, Jame helped Virtus Pro win Blast Premier CIS Cup, IEM New York Online CIS, and CS Summit, but when Majors rolled around, the team struggled. Soon, Yekinder left the team, and n0rb3r7 and fame joined. With the new line-up, Now, Outsiders barely qualified for the 2022 IEM Rio Major.

Jame Time - The Major Champion:

Coming into the major, outsiders were not regarded as the contenders as there were Faze, Navi, Furia and many other teams, but Jame time struck in Rio. Outsiders made it through the legends and the Champions stages with a record of 3-1 in both the swiss stages.

In the Champions stage, Outsiders made a quick and easy meal of Fnatic in the first round. Facing MOUZ, the team started strong, but MOUZ answered back. In the final map, Jame and the team held firm to win against MOUZ to reach the finals.

Now facing Heroic, Jame took over the game and led the team from the front to win the first map 16-12. The second map was a stomp, with Outsiders winning games 16-5 to lift the trophy at Rio and be crowned the IEM Rio Major 2022 Champion.

Jame was named the MVP of the tournament. The story of Jame winning the major is of rising to your critiques, facing the notoriety and still doing it your way to win the way you like it. With Jame as the Rio Major MVP, Rio was indeed JAME TIME!!!

Another Early Exit, Same Old Story: Team Falcons Are Running Out Of Excuses

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. Hand someone from 2022 their current roster sheet — NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, Kyxsan, kyosuke, all under the tutelage of five-time Major-winning coach Zonic — and they would confidently declare this team the undisputed best in the world. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.
