Last night, the European organization GamerLegion released a statement on their X account highlighting a VRS calculation discrepancy that led to them not getting invited to the upcoming tournaments.

Valve Costs GamerLegion a Top 12 Placement

According to the statement, the February Valve ranking update had GamerLegion at the 13th place which leads to them missing major upcoming tournament viz. IEM Dallas, IEM Melbourne and more.

The discrepancy arises from the fact the GamerLegion’s IEM Katowice placement was not considered as they were still in contention until the 3rd of February, a cut-off for upcoming events. If the tournament’s placements are considered, GL shoots up to the 11th position, making them eligible for a direct invite.

The team has also reached out to Valve for further clarification, seeking “transparency and consistency in order to preserve the spirit of fair competition.”

Is there actually a problem with Valve Regional Standing Calculation?

The current case of GamerLegion doesn’t necessarily mean a failure of the VRS but an oversight. It is seldom the case when a team’s standing changes drastically and in turn leads to them missing/qualifying the tournament in such a short time frame.

However small, such incidents can be avoided by simply ensuring the cut-off dates don’t coincide with the tournament dates. This ensures the teams’ latest performances are awarded and tournaments feature the most suitable candidates.

GamerLegion now awaits the official decision from Valve. If Valve decides against GamerLegion participating, it still sets up a precedent for all the upcoming events.

Another Early Exit, Same Old Story: Team Falcons Are Running Out Of Excuses

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. Hand someone from 2022 their current roster sheet — NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, Kyxsan, kyosuke, all under the tutelage of five-time Major-winning coach Zonic — and they would confidently declare this team the undisputed best in the world. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.
