G2 Esports and ENCE secure Blast.tv Paris Major 2023 Legends stage
The second day of Blast.tv Paris Major 2023 saw two teams qualifying for the Legends Stage. The Paris Major Challengers stage started yesterday. We saw Rounds 1 & 2 concluding yesterday with G2, Apeks, Faze Clan and ENCE securing a 2-0 in the Swiss stage. Today, G2 took down Apeks 2-0 to become the first team to qualify for the Legends stage as Challengers. In the second qualification game of Round 3, ENCE upsetted Faze Clan to qualify for the Legends stage.
G2 Esports breeze through the Blast.tv Paris Major Challengers:
With one of the most coveted and legendary rifles on the squad, it is a surprise G2 is still searching for their first Major trophy. The team bailed out of the Rio 2022 Major. With Valve announcing CS2, this will be NiKo's final chance to lift a CS:GO Major trophy.
G2 did not qualify for the Major as Legends but is in contention to win. G2 started their Major journey on Inferno. They took down the Mongolian The Mongolz 16-11. They defeated Complexity in Round 2 with a dominant 16-9 scoreline. With the win, G2 Esports became one of the four teams to secure 2-0 on Day 1. In Round 3, G2 Esports faced Apeks, who 16-0'd their previous opponent. In the Bo3, G2 Esports took down Apeks 16-11, 16-3, securing the Legends Stage.
ENCE upset Faze Clan to secure Legends stage:
ENCE has been one of the toughest teams in recent CS:GO competitive history. The team has been making strides to replicate their 2019 run at a Major. Coming into the Challengers stage as a Contender, ENCE blew past OG in the first round. ENCE took on Ninjas in Pyjamas in the second round, a favourite to go 3-0 in the Challengers stage. ENCE displayed amazing defence prowess to secure a 2-0 on the first day.
In Round 3, ENCE met Faze Clan, another strong team. In the Bo3 series, ENCE lost the first map but won the second one, forcing a third. On Anubis, ENCE won 16-8 after an uncontested seven-round streak. With the win, ENCE upset Faze Clan to become the second team to secure the Legends stage.
