Beginning of the End : Blast.tv Paris Major 2023 Day 1 Recap

The Blast.tv Paris Major 2023 commenced on the 8th of May 2023. This is going to be the last CSGO Major, and all the teams are eyeing that coveted title.

Rounds 1 and 2 of the Challengers Stage were held on the first day. All of the games played were BO1s. The teams have gotten a taste of blood on the first day, and some have placed themselves at an advantage to claim the championship.

Round 1:

Game 1: Monte vs Faze Clan

Kicking off the final CSGO Major, we saw Faze Clan take on Monte on Ancient. Both teams were relying on their CT-sides to bring them the win. And it was Faze who managed to edge it out at 16-14.

Game 2: paiN Gaming vs Fluxo

paiN had an easy sweep against Fluxo. The Brazilian derby went the way of paiN on Mirage. They had a very strong CT-side, only allowing 2 rounds to Fluxo to win the map 16-2.

Game 3: G2 vs Mongolz

G2 managed to take the map from the Mongolz after a clean T-side demonstration. G2 felt right at home on Inferno, with m0NESY even giving us a highlight Ace to spice up the match. Mongolz conceded 16-11.

Game 4: GamerLegion vs Complexity

GL and Complexity had a fierce fight on Inferno before Complexity managed to eke out the win at 16-11. Both teams had a very strong CT-side, and it eventually came down to Complexity’s T-side.

Game 5: Forze vs Grayhound Gaming

Going to Mirage, it was a similar CT-sided story between Forze and Grayhound. Although Forze ended the first half 12-3, Greyhound managed to make the comeback and win the map 16-14. aliStair dealt the winning blow in a 1v1 against zorte.

Game 6: Apeks vs Liquid

North American giants Team Liquid were felled at the hands of Apeks as the EU roster took the win 16-12. Fighting it out on Ancient, Apeks had the better CT-side, and a decent attack side.

Game 7: Ninjas in Pyjamas vs MOUZ

NIP had a commanding win against MOUZ on Mirage. The once full Swedish outfit managed to take the win at 16-9 after a dominating first half.

Game 8: OG vs ENCE

ENCE had completely dominated OG on Anubis as they won 16-6. Starting off with a strong T-side, ENCE carried this momentum through to win the game.

Round 2: High Matches

The winning teams from the previous round faced off in the High Matches. Faze, G2, Apeks and ENCE managed to get the better of their opponents, and have moved on to the Round 3 High Matches for a ticket to the Legends Stage.

Round 2: Low Matches

The losers of Round 1 had to face each other in the Low Matches. Monte, Mongolz, FORZE and OG managed to squeeze themselves into the Round 3 Mid Matches, while Fluxo, GL, Liquid and MOUZ will face each other in Round 3 Low Matches for survival in the Major. 2 teams will be going home from the Blast.tv Paris Major 2023.
