The playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 17 are about to begin and only 16 teams are left in the race. The prizes are substantial but what is even more important is the prestige and the tickets to IEM Cologne 2023 and BLAST Premier World Final 2023. All of these are reserved for the winner.

The playoffs stage of EPL S17 is scheduled to take place in Saint Julian’s, Malta, between March 21-26. The winner gets $200.000 and will be decided in a best-of-five Grand Final.

EPL S17 Favorites

These are the favorites ahead of the playoffs stage of ESL Pro League Season 17:

  • Heroic
  • Team Vitality
  • Natus Vincere
  • G2 Esports
  • FaZe Clan
  • Cloud9

One of these six teams will almost certainly win the tournament. Based on the seeding, Heroic, FaZe Clan, Vitality, and G2 have high chances of playing in the Grand Final. Heroic and FaZe will probably compete in the first semifinal while G2 and C9 will likely compete in the second semifinal.

However, it won’t be easy for these teams to reach the final match before the Grand Final. G2 will need to overcome Movistar Riders, ENCE, and Vitality. The difficulty of each match is greater than that of the previous one.

By far, the biggest challenge will be the French squad. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut is eager to win a new EPL trophy. His team won EPL S16 back in October last year and that should give Vitality a lot of confidence. Right now, thanks to their excellent group stage performance, they are just two steps away from the Grand Final.

For Heroic, the road to the Semifinals involves a battle with either Outsiders or Natus Vincere. If Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and his crew have managed to achieve fluency in their new formula, they will be very hard to beat. But Heroic will still beat them because they’re much stronger than almost everyone else right now.

The most likely Grand Final is Heroic versus Vitality. But Heroic versus G2 is also a likely possibility.
