In a surprising upset,Golden Guardians won 3-0 against Evil Geniuses on March 31, the second match day of Round 2 of the 2023 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Playoffs at Riot Games Arena in Santa Monica, Calif., United States.

GG advances to face FlyQuest on April 8 for the opportunity to play against Cloud9 in the 2023 LCS Spring Championship on April 9 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Evil Geniuses vs. Golden Guardians

Game 1: GG wins

Golden Guardians won 12-4 against Evil Geniuses in 32:33 in Game 1. GG bot laner Trevor "Stixxay" Hayes was 6/0/2 and led in kills; top laner Eric "Licorice" Ritchie finished 3/1/5 on Fiora; mid laner Kim "Gori" Tae-woo found a 3/1/7 score on Taliyah; and jungler Kim "River" Dong-woo was 0/0/12 on Wukong. Golden Guardians took a 2-0 lead against Evil Geniuses with a 17-3 Game 2 win that lasted 24:16. GG support Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun finished with a 1/0/14 Rell KDA; Licorice went 3/2/3 on Gwen; Gori notched a 0/1/10 performance on K'Sante; and Stixxay was 7/0/6 on Tristana. Game 3: GG wins

Golden Guardians won their series against Evil Geniuses in 3-0 fashion after a 33:26 Game 3 win in which they led 10-4 in kills. GG Licorice brought out Rumble and went 3/1/5; River was 0/0/7 on Viego; Gori found a 3/0/3 K'Sante score; and Stixxay and Huhi were 3/1/5 on Tristana and 1/2/4 on Amumu. With the win, GG Huhi earned his first Player of the Series award of playoffs. GG took 10 towers, two inhibs, one Baron, Dragon Soul and two Heralds; EG were only able to take two towers and a drake.
