The final day of regular season for the 2023 LCS Summer Split is upon us and EG has made a single roster change in the jungle role that's already producing notable results. Here's what we know so far about the change.

Armao's play:

The American jungler Jonathan "Armao" Armao (previously known as Grig) is a veteran in the LCS scene, having been a part of it since 2014. In his first years, he was traded between LCS organizations multiple times and had seen play in both their respective Academy and main rosters.

In the Summer Split of 2023, Armao was freshly picked up by Evil Geniuses after his stint with Cloud9 as a coach, and placed in the main roster as their jungler. Armao initially saw success with EG as they went 9-3 in the first four weeks of the split. However, in the 5th week, EG with Armao took on a harsh 0-3 week. His performance in their losses was enough to warrant a change.

In comes Sheiden:

A day before the beginning of the final week of the regular season, EG released a statement on their Twitter regarding Armao being replaced by Jade "Sheiden" Libut.

The Canadian-Phillipino player was first given an opportunity to debut in the academy league for Cloud9 in 2022. He was subsequently picked up by EG to play for their Challengers team (renamed from "Academy"). As can be seen from EG's tweet, Sheiden is now stepping up to the tier 1 scene.

As of the end of Day 2 of the final week, EG has gone 2-0 leaving them in third place with a score of 11-6. There are a lot of questions concerning the future of Armao's and Sheiden's careers with EG, which remain to be answered until the foreseeable future. For now, the team has translated their loss streak into a winning streak and are on the verge of finishing the regular season on a strong note.
