China's unbeaten king's EDward gaming Valorant is likely to part ways with the team's duelist Life and has been seen scrimming with Smoggy after the disappointing Valorant Champions run.

Edward Gaming rise in ranks of Valorant APAC:

EDward Gaming was one of the most hyped teams that weren't part of the official Valorant Circuit and were unbeaten in China for a long time. They were known for their hyper-aggressive playstyle, pushing the boundaries with their strong attacks and solid defense.

The team relied on Life and Zmjkk for attacking, with them being the two duelists to make space, while Nobody, Haodong, and Chichoo supported from the backlines. The team was insanely talented and had been known to be real demons in Scrims against Korean and Japanese teams.

The team's star, Zmjkk, is an insanely accurate Operator player and is aggressive to take fights and win. Even before coming to the VCT East Asia LCQ, Zmjkk has already established himself amongst Meteor, f0rsaken, BuZz, etc.

The team started their Valorant EA LCQ journey facing Korean OnSlayers and completely decimated them, winning the series 2-0. Now facing Reject in the upper semifinals, EDG again quickly dominated their opponent into submission, winning the series 2-0.

The team continued trampling the Japanese and Korean teams by beating Northeption, Japan's second-strongest team, and eventually beat OnSlayers 3-0 in the finals, winning the tournament without dropping a single map.

EDward Gaming win VCT East Asia LCQ

The Overwhelming Victory only solidified their position in the International scene, and they were dubbed the dark horses coming into the Valorant champions. They were sure to make a deep run within the tournament.

Valorant Champions 2022 Run:

Coming to Instanbul, EDward Gaming was one of the strongest teams coming as the team qualified through LCQ, and as their first international debut, they faced the team most compared to them in Paper Rex.

The match was a brawl, with Paper Rex picking off EDG's map pick of Pearl 13-11, followed by EDG answering them back with a strong 13-5 finish on Paper Rex's Icebox. The brawl continued to the third map, where both the teams were tooth and nail, but Paper Rex ran away with the map winning the series 2-1.

Now facing Team Liquid in elimination, Life, and Co.seemed to be entirely outclassed by Team Liquid in terms of Raw Aim, something EDG was known for, Liquid just shutdown EDG's bidental attack with Life as Jett and Zmjkk as Raze.

Liquid continued their dominance in the second map winning the series 2-0 and eliminating EDG from the tournament. With the disappointing results, the team should make changes to evolve further.

EDward Gaming Eliminated from Valorant Champions 2022

With EDG not making it to franchising, the team has been fielding a roster to compete in the Ascension League in 2023, will come back stronger, and has shown signs of greatness and will be the best contender in the 2023 Ascension League.

Changes ahead of the 2023 VCT season:

Edward Gaming and Life to part ways

With the disappointing 12-16th Finish, the team ought to make changes. As reported by SeulgiVLR on Twitter, the team was seen scrimming with Smoggy instead of Life post-Valorant Champions, and Life might be on the way out of the team. The news isn't confirmed yet by either the organization or the player.
