On April 8th, Disguised Toast, The owner and manager of Disguised, announced the addition of a new member to the Valorant roster. In the announcement Tweet, Toast announced a reveal stream for the new DSG member in a 2v5 Pros vs Noobs Valorant showdown feat. Tarik, Lilypichu, Sykkuno, Hasan Abi, Tina kitten. In a surprise reveal, Jacob "yay" Whitaker was introduced as the newest DSG Valorant Member. DSG yay will participate in the upcoming VCL NA Split 2 along with the DSG squad in Steel, Genghsta, Xxif and Clear.

Who is DSG Yay?

yay last played for Cloud9 at VCT LOCK//IN. After the loss to DRX in the second round of VCT LOCK//IN, Cloud9 and Yay parted ways. While most members of Cloud9 wanted to play with Yay, Cloud9 decided to move forward without Yay and IGL Vanity. The move was one of the most criticised moves in Valorant history. Yay was the best player of 2022 and also won the Esports Player of the Year 2022. After the departure from Cloud9 as a F/A, yay was orgless for a while.

Disguised Valorant Roster going forward:

Around the same time as Yay, Disguised let go of Exalt. Disguised played the rest of the season with their sub in riku. After the split ended, Disguised began searching for a new fifth to replace Exalt. On the other hand, the Tier 1 team didn't pick Yay, and the transfer window for VCT concluded.

A big part of it must be the price tag that comes with the best player of 2022. On April 1st, Toast jokingly announced Yay as an April Fools joke. While it was a joke, rumours started flying about Yay joining the Disguised organisation.

Last night, Disguised officially announced yay to the roster. The reveal was one of the most interesting in recent times. The reveal included an announcement video with Tarik following it with a stream introducing DSG Yay to the world.

With Yay in the roster, DSG might appear as one of the strongest contenders for the VCL Title and the Ascension League. At the same time, it'd be unsure what role Yay will play in DSG—having a player as coveted and bejewelled as Yay adds confidence to the team, making them mentally strong. Additionally, Steel is a great mind and will utilise someone like Yay correctly.

With Yay in the roster, The Disguised Valorant roster going into 2023 is as follows:

  • Josh "Steel" Nissan
  • Joseph "Clear" Allen
  • Amgalan "Genghsta" Menekhbayar
  • Damion "XxiF" Cook
  • Jacob “Yay” Whitaker
  • Kyle “OCEAN” O’Brien(Coach)
