Coach Max Waldo leaves Cloud9 (C9) after a two year run under the North America organization to pursue content creation full time.

FROM COACH TO CONTENT CREATOR

On 29 December, the official Cloud 9 League of Legends Twitter page announced Max Waldo's departure as head coach.

Before C9, Max was a player in the 2017 NA Scouting Grounds, going under the ID kaizen. He would be drafted 8th overall under 100 Thieves (100T), becoming 100T's academy top laner for a split. Max eventually made his way to coaching the 100T academy and 100 Next teams. After a brief stint at 100T, Max would continue his career coaching, getting signed for C9.

Max Waldo was originally signed as the Position and Strategic Coach for Cloud9, signed back in December 2020. A year later, Max would be promoted to Head Coach following the departure of, Nick "LS" De Cesare.

In a reply Tweet to the announcement of his departure, Max clarified the roster move.

Max Waldo Leaves Cloud9 - Content Creation Time!

As the Cloud 9 League of Legends Tweet states, Max Waldo is off to pursue content creation full time. While Max was shown to be part of Cloud9's Spring 2023 roster reveal, the young coach parted ways just after this announcement.

Replacing Max Waldo is long-time veteran of the scene Alfonso "Mithy" Aguirre Rodriguez. Mithy previously worked under C9 alongside Max Waldo from December 2020 - November 2021 as Strategic Coach.

During Max Waldo's time as Head Coach, Cloud 9 took home their fifth domestic win as an organization. Unfortunately, Worlds 2022 did not go well for most Western teams, as was the same for C9 - the boys in blue did not exit the Group Stage. Regardless, a 2nd place regular season finish, and a domestic title across two splits is a great for Max's first full year as Head Coach.
