Prologue: CDL Major III qualifiers to kick off today

The CDL Major II saw Atlanta FAZE lifting a trophy after almost a year. Atlanta Faze took over the CDL Regular Season points table with the victory. The points table also saw a significant shift in rankings, with LA Thieves taking a major leap. Optic Texas will host the third CDL Major. Starting March 09th, The CDL Major III will take place at the Esports Stadium Arlington. The qualifiers for determining the standings at the Major III kick-off today. The current standing of the CDL Points Leaderboard is as follows.

CDL Major III Format & Schedule:

The CDL Major III splits into two stages, Qualifiers and the Major. The qualifiers will determine the seedings for the Major bracket. The qualifiers feature three weeks of Call of duty action, with each team playing three games. The teams need the most wins to get a higher seed and a better placement in the Major bracket. CDL Major III Ruling Changes:

The CDL added a minor change in the competitive ruling. The Flash Grenade Tactical was added to Restrictions. You can read all the other rulings and the complete rulebook here.

Roster changes ahead of CDL Major III:

CDL Major II also saw two of the biggest names in CDL bidding farewell to the competitive scene. After a disappointing run at the previous major, some teams also changed up their rosters. Let's look at the roster changes ahead of CDL Major III.

Optic Texas adds Ghosty:

The biggest news with the COD competitive scene was long-time Optic member Scump taking a step back from competitive COD. After an 11-year-long illustrious career, Scump bid farewell to the big stage. To fill in the void left by Scump, Optic Texas brought in Ghosty. Ghosty will debut with Optic in the CDL Major III qualifiers.

Boston Breach adds Beans:

After the strong run from the Boston Breach, We saw the emotional Methodz taking the stage for the last time. With Methodz gone, Boston Breach promoted Ben "Beans" McMellon from the Academy roster to be the last member of the team.

Florida Mutineers Shakeup the roster:

After a somewhat shaky run at the CDL MAJOR II, Florida Mutineers looked to shake up the roster. Mutineers initially brought back Carson "Brack" Newberry replacing Javier "Vikul" Milagro.

Mutineers let go of MajorManiak and Davpadie from the roster to make space for Tyler "FeLo" Johnson and Keynyen "Capsidal" Sutton. The new Florida Mutineers Roster will include Havok, Brack, FeLo, and Capsidal.

Las Vegas Legion replace Prolute with 2ReaL:

The last change ahead of the CDL Major III was the Las Vegas Legion added Brendan "2ReaL" Stockdale to the starting lineup. Las Vegas Legion currently is the second-last placed team in CDL Points standings. They will look to make a strong run at the upcoming major to climb up the leaderboard.

The qualifiers for the upcoming CDL Major III will kick off today, with LA Thieves taking on LA Legion, followed by ROKKR-Subliners and Ultra-Breach. CDL will broadcast the games on Twitch starting at noon PT.
