Cloud9 Mid Laner Jang "EMENES" Min-Soo was spotted sending toxic messages during a Korean Solo Queue game. These comments were directed at the EU Twitch streamer Spearshot. EMENES is now under fire by the LoL community.

The comments came to light after Spearshot posted the screenshot above on his X account. This post garnered a lot of discussion over the severity of the comments. Cloud9 later shared a post on X providing confirmation that they are aware and are discussing the matter at hand.

Other LoL influencers have made their comments on the matter. Twitch streamer Christian "IWDominate" Rivera made multiple comments including "Insane Cringe" while another Twitch streamer Nick "LS" De Cesare tagged EMENES in a comment typed in Korean.

EMENES' Response to Criticism

EMENES went on to respond saying that "one trick streamers [flaming] whole teams" and grief their games. He referenced Spearshot saying that he does not want to win but EMENES himself tries very hard. EMENES replied to more comments in Korean about the matter.

"(Translated from Korean) I'm not criticizing all streamers, but no matter what server you play on, some "broadcasters" ignore the normal rules of the game and constantly ruin the game when things don't go their way, and the average player thinks that if they say something to them, they'll throw it again next time. I am patient. However, I endured the excessive play until the end of the game. Do you know how many athletes are disadvantaged for just saying something and then immediately taking advantage of the criticism they received? I am sorry to my fans for my over-the-top remarks. However, I cannot apologize to people, including that streamer, who maliciously break basic rules for viewer interest."

Furthermore, Spearshot made an X post reviewing the game that EMENES made these comments. He defended his gameplay stating that he was not "griefing" his solo queue game and that EMENES complained about nothing.

Community Backlash

EMENES is under fire by the majority of the LoL community. Many comments made by the LoL subreddit and X community stated their contempt for the mid laner's comments. Some say his comments had a strong xenophobic tone, while many others call out his toxicity and wish for him to be banned on the Korean server.

Competitive Impact

With the 2023 World Championships commencing in a month, this controversy provides concern from both the C9 fandom and the organization itself. Whether EMENES will be terminated from his role as Mid Laner or if he will face another punishment is yet to be officially stated by C9. If EMENES does step down or is suspended from playing in Worlds, C9 will have to find a replacement soon.

More updates to come on this progressing matter.
