Brian “BSJ” Canavan is one of the most famous content creators in Dota 2. His skills as a desk analyst and coach are well-known and his YouTube channel has over 100.000 subscribers. For a game like Dota 2, that’s an impressive number.

BSJ started his career as a player, but he quickly realized that he was not going to become one of the best. His teams were always struggling to find success in the region and he never achieved his international ambitions.

But after he switched to becoming an analyst, he quickly realized that his communication skills and game knowledge were greatly enhanced by his charisma. Audiences from around the world took a liking to him and he is now a famous figure in this great esport.

BSJ’s Decision to Return to Professional Competitions

At the age of 30, few players dare to go and compete against some of the best teams in their region. But BJS decided to give it a try, partly because his friend, Andrew “Jenkins” Jenkins, who’s also a content creator and quite a good Dota 2 player, wanted to have a bit of fun and test his skills once more.

For a person who specializes in content creation and analysis, playing professionally is a very risky move. If you get obliterated by the other teams, the implication is that you are not as competent and as credible as you seemed to be. And you may actually lose some of your subscribers.

But BSJ and Jenkins decided to compete anyway and so far, they seem to be good enough to maintain their spot in Division II of North America’s Dota Pro Circuit. They probably won’t earn the promotion to Division I at the end of Tour 1, but they’re likely to stay in the league for the entire season.

Their team is called Fart Studios, which is probably a terrible name if you want to become a serious esports organization, and they earned their Division II spot by doing well not only in the open qualifier but also in the closed qualifier.

So far, BSJ’s team played two matches in Division II. The first one ended with a clean victory while the second one was a close defeat. The NA fans are eager to see what happens next.
