First Victims: Blast.tv Paris Major Day 2 Recap
Day 2 of the Blast.tv Paris Major ended on the 9th of May, and 2 teams have already fallen out of the Major. Meanwhile 2 other teams have just secured their ticket to the big stage, let's take a look.
Round 3 High Matches:
Game 1: G2 vs Apeks
G2 was the first team of the Challengers to make it into the Legends stage winning 2-0 in the series. Map 1 was Anubis, where both teams had a pretty solid start. However, G2 had a better T-side, which allowed them to win the game 11-16. NiKo also pulled out an impressive Ace in round 24.
The teams moved on to Inferno, where G2 had a really dominant game. They ended the first half at 13-2, showing off a T-side masterclass in the process. Apeks were not able to recover from this, as G2 took the map 16-3.
G2 advanced into the Legends stage, as they stood 3-0 in the Challengers stage.
Game 2: ENCE vs Faze Clan
ENCE took the second spot of the Legends Stage from Faze Clan in a thrilling 2-1 victory. Faze got the upper hand on Overpass. They took the lead 9-6 in the first half, and even though ENCE tried to fight back, Faze closed out the map 16-12.
ENCE surprised everyone by beating Faze 16-13 on Nuke. The once Polish roster had a stellar T-side, which allowed them to win the map. Faze also had a good T-side, but it wasn’t at the same level. Final map was Anubis, where ENCE had a dominant run and beat the former Major Champions 16-8.
ENCE have moved on to the Legends Stage as they stood 3-0 in the Challengers.
Round 3 Mid Matches:
paiN, Grayhound, NIP and FORZE all managed to beat their opponents in the Mid Mathes, as they now move on to Round 4 High Matches. They will have another shot to qualify to the Legends Stage. As for the losers Complexity, Mongolz, OG and Monte, they will play in the Round 4 Low Matches for survival in the Major.
Round 3 Low Matches:
Game 1: GamerLegion vs MOUZ
GL took the vital victory against MOUZ as they managed to survive elimination this time. They beat MOUZ 2-0 in the series. Map 1 was Mirage, where GL had a very solid game. They had managed to find and keep their momentum, as they won the map 16-12.
Overpass was very dominant for GL as they beat MOUZ 16-5. MOUZ were left struggling searching for answers.
GamerLegion survived for one more day, as MOUZ were eliminated from the Major.
Game 2: Team Liquid vs Fluxo
Liquid managed to avoid elimination as they sent Fluxo home after winning 2-1 in the series. Fluxo had a dominant CT side on Nuke, as they won the map 16-11 off the back of a 9 round win streak. Liquid bounced back on Inferno, as both teams were evenly matched. They managed to etch out the win at 16-14 after NAF pulled out an impressive 4k.
Ancient was the decider map, as both teams gave everything they had for survival in the Major. In the end it was Liquid who managed to hold on, as they beat the Brazilians 16-13.
Team Liquid have held on for one more shot at the Major. Fluxo have been eliminated from the Blast.tv Paris Major 2023.
