Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee has finally made his move. The 26-year-old Support player will officially be joining KT Rolster for the LCK 2024 Spring Split season. His move to KT will be the first of his career, however, it will also reunite him with two of his former teammates - Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon and Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu.

All three of them were members of DRX in 2022 and had hoisted the Summoner’s Cup at Worlds that year together. BeryL’s departure from DRX also marks the end of a 2-year tenure with the Korean organization. Prior to that, he had spent the majority of his career on DAMWON (DWG KIA) until November 2021, making it a total of nearly 3 years with them.

KT Rolster 2024 LCK Starting Lineup:

  • Top Lane: ?
  • Jungle: Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon
  • AD Carry: Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu
  • Support: Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee

Hefty Legacy

The wandering savant known as BeryL is a curious individual to some, and an inspiration to many. Outside of SK Telecom alumni, he is one of the few players who has had the privilege of lifting more than one Summoner’s Cup. However, it is his unhinged playstyle that draws the attention, the bold picks, the sheer audacity of his plays as the often appointed shot caller of the team.

Moreover, prior to that 2022 DRX lineup, the trio of BeryL, Deft, and Pyosik had never played with one another. Despite that, their run in 2022 was so inspirational, that their reunion all the way in 2024 sparks new hope in another potential dream.

BeryL for his part, has already forged his legacy as one the LCK’s best Supports in modern times. His most impressive achievement to date, is perhaps the one where he has won 2 Worlds titles on 2 different teams, being the first ever player to do so without ever playing for SK Telecom T1. He is also one of the few players to have achieved back-to-back-to-back LCK Playoff victories, having won in Summer 2020, Spring 2021, and Summer 2021 while under DAMWON/DWG KIA.

Conclusion

BeryL’s addition to KT Rolster is an exciting new venture for the organization, and what appears to be a bid to run back some of the DRX magic from the 2022 lineup with now three of their members. Unfortunately, Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon was already locked in by Dplus KIA prior to this, making it impossible to go for 4. Time will tell if this roster can repeat some of their earlier success under this new banner.
