DreamLeague Group Stage 1 has been full of surprises for the teams and the fans alike. Top teams in the Bali Major qualifiers are struggling, while teams that didn't qualify are taking the top spot. And Miracle's exceptional performance as a stand-in for Shopify made it exciting. Though we would like to see these teams continue, some need to get eliminated for the tournament to go on.

Group Stage 1

The first group stage had 16 teams divided into two groups to play in a Round-Robin. Of these teams, four from each group will qualify for Group Stage 2, while the rest get eliminated.

The teams that have qualified so far are,

Group A

  • Team Spirit
  • PSG.LGD
  • Talon Esports

Group B

  • 9Pandas
  • BetBoom
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Team Aster

Eliminated Teams

Half of the Western EU teams, considered the strongest, have been eliminated.

The eliminated teams are,

  • TSM
  • Team Liquid
  • Beastcoast
  • Shopify Rebellion
  • OG
  • Entity

Team Liquid

This team was the first to qualify for TI and one of the Top 3 teams this entire DPC season. Apart from almost winning two Majors back to back, they have been struggling in Tour 3. Losing to Quest Esports after a poor performance, they qualified for the Bali Major.

At DreamLeague, Team Liquid only managed to win one series against TSM, that too with two stand-ins from Quest. Either it is Liquid's plan not to expose their strats before the Major, or they have some serious issues that need fixing.

Shopify Rebellion

Even though Shopify is at the top of their region, they have a hard time in international waters. Normally they make it to the main stage and then choke, but this time they didn't qualify for Group 2 of DreamLeague. Fans were hyped about Miracle- standing in for Abed. And they did get a splash of the 'Miracle Show'. However, that was not enough, as they found it hard to close out games.

Tie-Breakers

The fourth team to qualify from Group A of DreamLeague has not been determined yet. As of now, three teams have an equal score of 7 wins and 7 losses, they are,

  • Evil Geniuses
  • Team Secret
  • Tundra Esports

It is shocking to see these three teams competing for a spot in Group 2. EG and Tundra secured the first spot in their regional leagues, meaning they should not be struggling this much.

Secret, on the other hand, came in last place at the WEU qualifiers. Seeing them compete for a qualifying spot has given some hope to the Secret fans out there. With a loan from Boom Esports, they are making it work. Hopefully, Puppey can make a comeback after having a hard time with this DPC season.

The first series of the tie-breakers will be Secret against Tundra. The match starts today at 12:00 pm CET.
