An entire day of tie-breakers was conducted on 30th Jan between OG, Tundra Esports & Entity to fill the last two spots for the Lima Major. The day concluded with no team moving forward after two full iterations.

Why was a winner not decided?

Recently the rules for the tie-breakers had been changed and the players are finding out at the last minute. TI11 champion Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun tweeted about the changes on 22nd January. Only a team's overall score is considered regardless of how many games wins they win. Since OG, Tundra and Entity are all tied with an overall score of 4 wins & 3 losses, they are pitted against each other.

The Never Back Down Attitude!

At the end of the day, all three teams were stuck in the same position. The reason being, no team was able to consecutively beat the other to move forward. Each team displayed equal strength and a burning motivation to qualify & prove themselves worthy. With incredibly high skill and surprising comebacks two full iterations of a BO1 series took place.  Entity was able to dominate Tundra Esports but was being shut down by OG, who was in turn not able to beat Tundra. This loop continued on into another round. Each team won 1 match in both iterations and ended the day with laughs looking forward to round 3.

Conclusion of tie-breakers

The tiebreaker matches will continue Tuesday at 18:00 CET. It will possibly be another full day of top-tier Dota keeping us fans at the edge of our seat.
