FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 has concluded, and Team Falcons emerged as champions, proving why they are one of the most dominant Dota 2 teams in the world. This marks their first championship title since The International 2025, setting a powerful tone for the upcoming season.

The event gathered most of the Tier 1 teams eager to test their new lineups and recover momentum after TI. It served as a crucial checkpoint in the early post-TI meta, giving fans and analysts a glimpse of how the new competitive landscape is shaping up.

Let’s take a closer look at how the Team Falcons FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 journey unfolded, which teams impressed along the way, and what these results could mean for ongoing tournaments -------------------------------------------------

BetBoom Team’s Upper Bracket Run

After dispatching PARIVISION during the qualifiers and advancing to the Playoffs, BetBoom Team wasted no time in asserting their strength. Their opening series was a tense 2–1 victory over Team Liquid, setting the tone for a deep upper bracket run.

In the next round, they stunned Team Spirit — a (relatively) consistent powerhouse — by another 2–1 scoreline. This win was particularly impressive, as Team Spirit entered the event as one of the group stage’s top seeds.

The Upper Bracket Finals then featured BetBoom Team facing Team Yandex, an unexpected but well-earned challenger. Despite Yandex’s solid showing throughout the tournament, their run came to a halt as BetBoom edged them out 2–1 to secure the first ticket to the Grand Finals.

Team Falcons On the FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2

As mentioned in our Group Stage Recap, Falcons dominated early, emerging as one of the first teams to qualify for the Playoffs after decisive victories against MOUZ, Team Liquid, and BetBoom Team.

However, their Playoffs journey did not start as smoothly as expected. In a surprising twist, MOUZ managed to upset Falcons 2–0, knocking them down to the Lower Bracket. This early setback only seemed to motivate Falcons further.

From there, they began an impressive comeback run, defeating Tundra Esports, Team Spirit, and Team Liquid—all with tight 2–1 scorelines.

Their final Lower Bracket opponent was Team Yandex, who had already exceeded expectations. Yet, by this point, Falcons’ momentum was unstoppable. Despite Yandex’s best efforts, they fell 2–1, finishing third overall, while ATF and his squad advanced to the Grand Finals looking stronger than ever.

Grand Finals: The Falcons’ Comeback

The Grand Finals began with BetBoom Team taking an early lead, claiming the first map and intending to finish what they started. However, Team Falcons refused to back down. They adjusted their drafts, improved coordination, and turned the tide in the second map to tie the series 1–1.

From that point onward, the momentum shifted dramatically. Falcons began to dictate the pace. BetBoom fought valiantly, but by the time the fourth game rolled around — lasting nearly an hour — the outcome was clear. Team Falcons closed the series 3–1, securing their rightful place as FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 Champions and further solidifying their post-TI dominance.

The victory earned Team Falcons the top prize of $350,000, while BetBoom Team took home $180,000 for second place. Team Yandex rounded out the top three with $105,000, marking their strongest finish at a Tier 1 event so far.

Comparing FISSURE PLAYGROUND and BLAST Slam IV

FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 also provided valuable insight into how teams are evolving between tournaments — particularly compared to BLAST Slam IV, which is still ongoing.

BetBoom Team

One of the most notable improvements came from BetBoom Team. After placing 10th in the BLAST Slam Play-In stage following a loss to Team Spirit, their FISSURE PLAYGROUND turnaround was impressive. The team seems to have found its rhythm, avenged its previous defeat, and went all the way to the Grand Finals.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid also showed promising progress. After finishing 9th at the BLAST Slam, they managed a solid 4th place at FISSURE PLAYGROUND. The improvement in coordination was evident, suggesting that their lineup is gradually syncing up. If they maintain this pace, Liquid could soon be back in contention for titles on the next ESL Pro Tour event.

Heroic

On the other hand, Heroic experienced a rougher stretch. Their remarkable run during the BLAST Slam was one of the year’s highlights for the new roster, but fatigue appeared to take its toll. Without adequate downtime, their gameplay lacked the spark we have seen earlier. As a result, they exited the FISSURE PLAYGROUND early, finishing in 8th place.

Team Spirit

Finally, Team Spirit — a team always in the championship conversation — found themselves outmatched by both Grand Finalists. After a strong BLAST Slam performance and with their Playoffs Semifinal still pending, Spirit’s FISSURE PLAYGROUND run ended in a disappointing 5th place. It wasn’t a disastrous result, but certainly below what their fans have come to expect.

Closing Thoughts

FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 marked an unusual moment in the Dota 2 calendar: a Tier 1 tournament running simultaneously with another Tier 1 event. This overlap tested endurance and preparation, as players had little time to rest or recalibrate. The results clearly reflected which teams managed the pressure best. While some faltered under fatigue, others — like Team Falcons — thrived amid the chaos.

As the dust settles, it’s clear that Team Falcons' performance sets them apart as early favorites for the 2026 season. Their mental resilience continue to make them one of the world’s most feared squads. Meanwhile, the rest of the field will have to learn, recover, and prepare to face them again when BLAST Slam IV resumes.
