IESF World Championship Kicks off With 16 Countries for $100k Prize Pool

The Dota2 International Esports Federation (IESF) World Championship commences on August 26th, 2023. 16 teams representing their countries will compete for a prize pool of 100,000 USD. Romania will be hosting this Tier 3 tournament.

IESF Tournament format

Sixteen teams will be separated into four groups, with each group containing four teams. The Group Stage will be from August 26th - August 27th, with all the series being BO1. The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the playoffs, while the others will be eliminated.

The playoffs will continue the same day after the group stage and end on September 3rd, 2023. Eight teams will participate in the Upper Bracket, and the losing team will drop to the Lower Bracket. All the series in the playoffs will be BO3.

The team that wins the tournament will receive a prize of 50k, with the runner-up getting 30k and 3rd place getting 20k, respectively.

The tournament consists of one team from the Host Nation, the previous year's winner, and 14 teams from the Regional Qualifiers.

The Romanian team has TI finalist w33 playing for them, while the Indonesian team has Dreamocel and Hyde. The United States team consists of 4 players from Nouns who just qualified for TI12, with Speeed from Team DogChamp being their 5th player.

Four players from Polaris Esports are representing the Philippines team, who dropped out of the TI Qualifiers to compete in the IESF World Championship. IHC Esports, a Division II team, also dropped out of the TI12 qualifiers to represent Team Mongolia.

TI11 Finalist W_Zayac, along with dream` from Hydra, are representing their country Kyrgyzstan. Stonebank and Kidaro from B8 are in Team Ukraine, while their teammate CTOMAHEH1 is in Team Bulgaria along with Lil Pep from Ancient Tribe.

Upcoming Matches

The first day starts off with three matches, Kyrgyzstan vs. Czech Republic, Mongolia vs. South Africa, and Indonesia vs. Bulgaria. It is not confirmed if all three series will be streamed, however, you can check out their live broadcast here.
