GEN kicks off the series with a strong dominating 1-0 lead against T1. In the early game, Moon "Oner" Hyeon-Joon made impactful ganks in mid and top lane. Unfortunately, T1 could not use this lead to take major objectives. GEN took major leaps in team fights and mechanically dominated T1 in a majority of the late game team fights. Han "Peanut" Wang-Ho especially had an amazing Glacial Prison that hit Lee "Gumayusi" Min-Hyeon. Choi "Doran" Hyeon-Joon stuck to Gumayusi in most team fights, and succeeded to take him down. Jeong "Chovy" Ji-Hoon and Kim "Peyz" Su-Hwan made major wombo-combos with their abilities striking the health of T1's members. From here, they had no issues in acing T1. GEN broke their nexus at a game time of 28:58 minutes with a gold lead of 12.0k.

Game 2: Macro Kingdom

T1 ties the series 1-1 with a macro efficient game 2. GEN fumbled the Ocean Soul as they tried to go for Baron Nashor. Unfortunately, T1 secured the Ocean Soul and made it in time to steal Baron away from GEN and end the game. T1 were consistently in the right places at the right times to take down turrets, objectives, and push lanes. Their rotations outmatched GEN's and few team fights occurring. T1 successfully defeat GEN with a 7.6k gold lead at a game time of 29:41 minutes.

Game 3: Gumayusi Domination

T1 gain a tempo lead of 2-1 as they efficiently win game 3. GEN drafted a heavy midrange/engage team fight comp. T1 on the other hand drafted more peel and poke with decent engage. This turned out to be a huge advantage for T1 as Gumayusi picked Xayah, a champion that loves to play in a close range fights. Gumayusi cut through GEN's members like paper and by the end of the game had the most damage at 20.7k. Through Gumayusi's power, T1 ran down GEN's turrets and base. T1 destroyed the Nexus with a gold lead of 10.1k at a game time of 22:57 minutes.

Game 4: Winning a Losing Draft

GEN restores the tie 2-2 as they came back against T1 in game 4. T1 drafted a good midrange team comp utilizing the Jax and Sejuani synergy. GEN drafted poorly into T1 as Maokai, Yone, and Alistar are exactly what T1 wants to face. In the early game, Oner made a lead for Choi "Zeus" Woo-Je who at 16 minutes was 4/0 out of 10 total kills in the game. However, T1 took team fights that did not include Gumayusi as they were fighting 4v5. This gave GEN the opportunity to come back.

In the mid game, both teams were even in gold and it was predicted that T1 would win since they had the better draft. GEN turned around these odds by finding tight windows to catch Lee "Faker" Sang-Hyeok and Gumayusi, dominating the team fights. In a final team fight in the mid lane, Yoo "Delight" Hwan-Joong found a major engage on Gumayusi, ending the chance for T1 to win. GEN broke the Nexus with a gold lead of 9.2k at a game time of 30:11 minutes.

Game 5: GEN Takeover

In a dominating close to the series, GEN secure the final game 3-2 against T1. T1 once again had a winning draft against GEN. They have good engage, poke, and peel while GEN has straight engage and team fight comp. GEN dominated the game as they fought exceptional team fights and split up T1's members multiple times. T1 could not pick out the enemy carries. After two back to back aces near the Baron pit, GEN took down T1's base and Nexus with a gold lead of 10.7k at a game time of 29:33.

Moving Forward

Congratulations to GEN as they officially qualify for the 2023 World Championships! They will also advance to the Grand Finals of the 2023 LCK Summer Split. T1 has one last chance to make it to the Finals if they defeat the winner of the Hanwha Life Esports vs kt Rolster Bo5 series.

GEN played phenomenally in their fully play Bo5 series against T1. They outperformed T1 in a majority of team fights which lead to T1's victories revolving around macro play. GEN has an incredibly strong team coordination, communication, and individual skill performance and are deserved a spot in the Finals. T1 performed admirably but were short one victory against GEN. They sure made GEN try their best as T1 was not going to go down easily. If T1 can improve their reactions in team fights as they had been getting caught consistently, it is likely if they face GEN again they can win.
