Old habits die hard and despite Sebastien “Ceb” Debs’ intention to retire, he seems incapable of letting go of the game he loves. Dota 2 is an amazing esport with endless possibilities, so it’s understandable why someone who has invested more than 10 years in it might want to continue playing despite the “old” age.

At 30, most esports players are already retired. But Ceb wants to have just a bit more fun before quitting his professional career. Based on his recent declarations, Old G, his newest project, will be just for fun: “No one will be pressured to take it seriously.” You might think he’s serious, until you notice who’s on the roster.

Old G’s Dota 2 Players

Old G will include five formidable players:

  • Ceb
  • Johan “N0tail” Sundstein
  • Arif “MSS” Anwar
  • Volodymyr “No[o]ne” Minenko
  • Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen

With a roster like this, the idea that Ceb won’t take winning seriously is a joke. Almost everyone is still very young and motivated, so the only person who will play relaxed is probably Ceb. Perhaps Topson will join him because he has a child to look after, but it’s unlikely.

If everything goes according to plan, Old G will compete in Western Europe’s Division II. To do that, they need to do well in the open qualifiers. There aren’t that many teams who can stop them, so the odds of success are quite high.

Fortunately for Old G, there will be four rounds of open qualifiers, so it’s hard to imagine them failing to reach their first goal. But even if they don’t secure a spot in Division II on the first try, they’ll get another chance in several months.

The strength of Old G’s roster, at least on paper, is phenomenal. Ceb, N0tail, and Topson are former OG members, so they’ve all won The International twice. MSS is a former Quincy Crew, Newbee, and VGJ.Storm member, so he too is quite accomplished. High-level Dota doesn’t scare him at all.

As for No[o]ne, he is one of the best midlaners in the world. He finished 5th – 6th at The International several times and won half a dozen Majors while playing for Virtus.pro.

What’s great about Old G’s roster is that everyone understands the game at the highest level and doesn’t need coaching sessions. This will allow Ceb to focus exclusively on his own game.
