Dota 2 patch 7.38 is here and it has turned the meta on it's head. With massive map changes, new items and neutral tokens, multiple ability and facet reworks, there is a lot to digest in the latest update.

We reached out to Cedric "Davai Lama" Deckmyn to get his thoughts on which offlaners you should be picking in pubs and why these guys are the best heroes to grind MMR right now.

The three best offlaners in Dota 2 patch 7.38

Dark Seer

There have been a lot of positive changes to Dark Seer in Dota 2 patch 7.38. The hero finally has an innate ability. After the butchery that happened to Mental Fortitude, the hero was left without any passive bonuses.

This has changed with the introduction of Aggrandize. The ability restores a portion of the hero's health and mana on each level up. It is a powerful sustain tool in the lane, and can help Dark Seer survive team fights if he is around for a kill or two.

The hero also got more base damage at level one, and a huge attack speed increase with the Quick Wit Facet. While the hero doesn't right-click a lot, extra attack speed is still a big boon early on.

It is no surprise the hero gained a 4% win rate increase. With a much stronger laning phase, along with his always impressive teamfight contribution, Dark Seer is one of the best offlaners to play in Dota 2 patch 7.38.

Night Stalker

Davai Lama listed Night Stalker as one of his MVP picks this patch. The main reason is due to a free level in Hunter in the Night.

This allows the hero to take level one fights with a point in his passive and either Void or Crippling Fear. Both abilities are highly useful, and starting the game with two skill points is an enormous advantage

Apart from the improved facet, Night Stalker is fantastic for hunting down and securing kills on lone targets. He brings incredible vision to team fights, and his damage is nothing to scoff at either.

He is fast, durable, provides incredible vision, and his laning stage is stronger than ever. It is no wonder that Night Stalker is sitting at a 52% win rate. In the hands of a strong offlaner, Balanar is a terror to his enemies.

Abaddon

Abaddon's utility makes him a great support and offlaner for grinding MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.38.

Unlike the previous two examples, Abaddon didn't receive massive changes to his innate ability or facets.

Instead, Abaddon got 10 extra damage at level one, a huge increase to the hero's ability to trade hits. Unlike most universal heroes, Abaddon's damage gain per level received only a minor hit, from 3.6 to 2.7.

In return for weaker damage growth, Abaddon got a whole lot of extra stats per level up. An extra 0.4 strength, 0.2 agility, and 0.4 intelligence. This means the hero is more durable, with more attack speed and mana at all levels.

Abaddon is mostly unchanged as an offlaner in Dota 2 patch 7.38. But that's not a bad thing. He was incredibly overpowered in the previous patch and the latest update has made him even scarier.
