Counter Logic Gaming, one of North America's oldest and most well-known esports organizations, is shutting down all of its operations except for League of Legends teams. In a recent YouTube video, esports content creator Travis Gafford revealed that he spoke with CLG staff, who were told they would be fired on Thursday, April 6th. be among those laid off.

According to Gafford, CLG's vertical League of Legends division, which includes LCS and LCS academy rosters, will be acquired by NRG Esports. However, it's unclear if the branding will remain the same or change as part of the sale.

Counter Logic Gaming was founded in 2010 by retired professional esports player and icon George "HotshotGG" Georgallidis, who is still its president and co-founder at the age of 32. Alongside teammates like Steve "Chauster" Chau, Michael "bigfatlp" Tang, Brian "TheOddOne" Wyllie, Brandon "Saintvicious" DiMarco, and Yiliang "Peter" "Doublelift" Peng, HotShotGG and its League of Legends roster reached peak in 2011 and 2012, qualifying for the season 1 and 2 world championships.
