Back as a Rebel: Vanity joins Shopify Rebellion's VCL NA roster

One of the best IGLs in North America, Anthony "Vanity" Malaspina, joins Shopify Rebellion ahead of the VCL NA Split 2. The move comes after Vanity's departure from Cloud9. Vanity has been part of two organisations as the IGL and has been a LAN-proven IGL. Shopify Rebellion has decided to bench Will "dazzle" Loafman to make space for Vanity. This is an upgrade for Shopify as they prepare for VCL NA split 2.

Earlier this month, Vanity after their loss against DRX at VCT LOCK//IN. Cloud9 also parted ways with Optic superstar and best player of 2022 Jacob "yay" Whitaker. The roster moves had shocked everyone as Vanity wanted to play with the team, and it was the same with Yay. As a reason for the move, Cloud9 said the reason behind the move was role issues. Cloud9 later added Runi and Jake to the roster.

On the other side of the deal, Shopify did not have a great start to VCL NA Split 1. The team only won a single game and finished the split with a 1-4 record, placing dead last in their group. Shopify signed the Luminosity Gaming roster back in June 2022. After TiGG left the roster, they brought in v1c. The roster could not achieve what they set their eyes on, and they decided to make changes. 

Vanity is one of the best IGLs in North America, and the talent on Shopify might mount a comeback, making SR a contender alongside M80 and Guard. Shopify Rebellion has also added tdawgg as an assistant coach.

With Vanity on the roster, the SR roster for VCL NA Split 2 will be as follows:

• Brandon "bdog" Michael Sanders
• Kaleb "moose" Jayne
• Victor "v1c" Truong
• Anthony "Vanity" Malaspina (IGL)
