Stewie2k, former Major Winner with Cloud9, has announced his free agency. He is considering returning to either the Counter-Strike or VALORANT scene. The veteran player, who had previously played for Evil Geniuses, cut ties with the organization on March 27, 2023, after joining them in January of the previous year.

Stewie2k shared the beginning of a new chapter on Twitter. He didn’t rule out the possibility of playing Counter-Strike, despite his recent focus on VALORANT. He expressed his gratitude towards the fans who supported his stream. And he also stated that after a “rough time away”, he is now ready to compete again.

A bit of History:

Stewie2k has been an impactful member of the American CS:GO scene over the years. He has been a part of almost every noteworthy organization in the region. He won a Major championship with Cloud9 in 2018, and the Intel Grand Slam with Team Liquid 2019. His stint at Team Liquid is till seen as one of the most dominant forms North American Counter Strike had seen in a long time, as they are still the only team to win the Intel Grand Slam in just 4 consecutive tournaments. But his time at Evil Geniuses saw him fail to replicate his prior success.

Before leaving Evil Geniuses, Stewie2k made waves in the esports community by calling out veteran French coach Damien “maleK” Bennouioua and HLTV writer Danish “Nohte” Allana. Allana had written a piece detailing Stewie2k’s CS:GO career, leading to an outburst from the NA player on stream. Stewie2k called out Evil Geniuses for their managerial methods and also criticized maleK along the way, admitting that he didn't care about EG CS, despite still being a part of the organization.

The Future:

It remains to be seen whether this controversy will affect Stewie2k's ability to find a new team, but he is ready to grind and compete at the highest level. While he has recently focused on VALORANT, he has not closed the door on a return to Counter-Strike. Regardless of the game, Stewie2k's return to competitive play is eagerly anticipated by fans and the esports community alike.
