Day 4 of IEM Katowice was quite eventful, as the teams from the Upper Brackets of Groups A and B took each other on.

Group A:

Game 1: NaVi vs Cloud9:

NaVi absolutely dominated Cloud9, taking the series 2-0. First map was Ancient, where Cloud9 put up quite a fight, but NaVi took the win 16-13. Second map was Inferno, where NaVi coasted through. They won the map 16-6. Electronic, b1t and s1mple had a stellar game with 42, 41, and 40 kills respectively. Electronic topped the table with a 1.39 rating overall, while it was Sh1ro with most AWP kills at 19.

Game 2: G2 Esports vs BIG:

Similar to NaVi, G2 also had a 2-0 win, winning both maps in dominant fashion. They had an exceptional CT-side in Anubis, and a stellar T-side in Inferno, winning both maps 16-12 and 16-8 respectively. M0NESY had the most kills at 41, but it was syrsoN with most AWP kills at 25 out of a total 36.

Game 3: Team Spirit vs Faze Clan:

It came to no surprise to anyone as Faze also won their series 2-0. They had very good CT-sides on both maps, as they won 16-5 and 16-12 on Ancient and Nuke respectively. Super Dad Rain stepped up for his team with 37 kills, sharing the top spot with Karrigna, but it was karrigan who had the highest rating at 1.36.

Game 4: Team Liquid vs IHC Esports

Although IHC eliminated Furia in the Play-ins stage, they could not come up with a similar performance against Liquid. Liquid managed a miraculous comeback on Inferno, having an amazing T-side. They won the map 16-13. On map 2, Liquid again had a terrific T-half, ending the half 10-5. IHC could not muster a comeback, as Liquid won the map 16-6. NAF had a terrific game at 52 kills. oSee had the highest AWP kills at 18 out of a total 36.

Group B:

Game 1: Team Vitality vs NIP

Vitality were clearly the better team in this series, even with NIP playing with new signing k0nfig. Vitality had a better CT-side as well as T-side in Mirage, winning the map 16-10. Inferno was a similar story where NIP could only manage 3 rounds on their T-side. Vitality won the map 16-9. ZywOo showed everyone why he’s considered no. 2 in the world as he topped the table with 47 kills, 13 AWP kills, and 11 First kills. He ended the series with a rating of 1.49.

Game 2: OG vs MOUZ

The only match of the day which went to all 3 maps. MOUZ were the better map on Inferno, winning 9 rounds in their CT-side, and 7 rounds on their T-side. They won the map 16-9. OG bounced back on Overpass, where both teams were quite evenly matched in the first half. However, a 6 round win streak on their T-side ensured the victory for OG at 16-10. Mirage was the decider, where OG pushed the map into overtime. Even though MOUZ managed to win their first 3 rounds on OT, OG had a dominant run, winning the map 22-19. Degster stepped up for OG with 77 kills, with a monstrous 50 kills from the AWP.

Liquid, NaVi, G2, Faze, OG, and Vitality all move ahead into the Upper Bracket Semi-Finals, while the losers will fight for survival in the lower brackets.
