With the arrival of Spirit Blossom Beyond, the new theme coming to League of Legends with Season 2, Riot Games also made a surprise announcement. Yunara is set to become the game’s newest champion when she joins the roster over the course of the new season.

While much is yet to be discovered about the new champion, join us as we go over everything we know about Yunara so far.

Where is Yunara from?

The entire Spirit Blossom theme coming with Season 2 is centered around the region of Ionia. Also known as The First Lands, Ionia is one of the vastest regions in Runeterra, and is marked by its untainted beauty and natural magic.

The Ionian people are often deeply spiritual, and seek to live in harmony with the natural world. As one of the biggest additions of the Spirit Blossom Beyond season, Yunara will come from Ionia, and is expected to represent several of the core aspects of the region and its inhabitants.

Over the course of the Season 2 cinematic, Yunara shares the screen with some of the most iconic Ionian champions in League of Legends, such as Xin Zhao, Shen, or Irelia. Over time, will Yunara be able to secure her place among these titans of the game as yet another classic of the region?

Which role will Yunara be in League of Legends?

At first, Yunara was thought to be a support due to her more delicate design as well as her overall Ionian thematic. Soon after the initial release of the Spirit Blossom Beyond cinematic, which allowed for a quick first look at the new champion, Riot Games confirmed that Yunara was going to be the game’s latest AD carry addition.

Expect Yunara to bring a slightly different look to the role, however, as both her personality and her kit are expected to have deep roots in Ionian tradition and their respect of nature and its magical world. Though not much is known about her in-game abilities just yet, these could well be related to the mysterious lanterns and flowers she appears to handle over the course of the cinematic.

Yunara’s launch will see the first, and perhaps only, ADC addition to League of Legends of 2025. The last time Riot introduced a new marksman to the game was all the way back in January of 2024 with the release of Smolder. Suffice it to say the addition of Yunara will breathe new life into one of the most mechanically demanding roles in the game.

When will Yunara release?

Though Season 2 of 2025 is coming to League of Legends with the release of patch 25.09 on April 30th, players will have to wait just a little bit longer to try out the new champion.

Riot Games has confirmed during a recent Dev Update video that Yunara will be releasing during Act 2 of Spirit Blossom Beyond, which will only be releasing about one or two months into the new season. The second act of Season 2 is set to release on June 11th. This means that you can expect Yunara to arrive to League of Legends shortly after the arrival of patch 25.12.

Spirit Blossom Beyond: A new direction

The arrival of Season 2 will bring a large wave of changes and new additions. Looking past Yunara's arrival to League of Legends, the new season will also see several new skins in line with the Spirit Blossom theme, a new Battle Pass and rewards, changes to neutral objectives such as Atakhan, and even a brand new game mode.

With so many changes coming our way, Season 2 has fans of League of Legends everywhere excited to load up to play the game and discover all of the wonders of Spirit Blossom.
