Cloud9 Eliminated! : Blast Premier Spring Finals Day 2 Recap
Day 2 of the Blast Premier Spring Finals has come to an end, and it’s more woes for 2 teams. Cloud9 and Astralis have been served the harsh bullet of elimination.
Group A:
Elimination Match: Team Vitality vs Cloud9
Cloud9 suffered another elimination in a 2-0 series loss to Vitality. On Overpass, Cloud9 initially dominated with a 6-round lead, but Vitality equalized with a streak of their own. Cloud9 reclaimed the lead with an 8-7 halftime score. However, Vitality's impressive T-side performance allowed them to restrict Cloud9 to only 5 rounds, securing a 16-13 victory. On Anubis, Cloud9 fought back after a decent start from Vitality. With a strong T-side, Cloud9 reached Map Point, but Vitality pushed back, forcing overtime with ZywOo's Ace. After a fierce battle, Vitality emerged victorious with a 19-17 win.
Winners Match: Imperial Esports vs G2 Esports
G2 emerged victorious with a 2-1 series win against their South American opponents. On Ancient, G2 dominated with an impressive CT-side, ending the half 13-2. They secured a comfortable 16-7 victory, with NiKo leading the scoreboard with 35 kills and an outstanding 2.33 rating. However, Imperial retaliated on Inferno, showcasing a strong T-side and winning the first half 10-5. Despite G2's impressive T-side performance, Imperial closed out the map with a 16-13 score. The final map, Nuke, saw Imperial start strong with a 7-round streak, but G2 made a comeback, securing a 16-13 win and clinching the series.
Group B:
Elimination Match: Complexity Gaming vs Astralis
Complexity surprised everyone by eliminating Astralis with a 2-1 series win. On Vertigo, Complexity took an early lead, but Astralis fought back, resulting in a close first half at 8-7 in favor of Complexity. After a back-and-forth battle, Complexity narrowly secured a 16-14 victory. Astralis retaliated on Ancient, leveling the score at 13-13 after a slow start. They allowed Complexity only one more round before closing out the map 16-14. The final map, Overpass, was tightly contested, with Complexity leading 9-6 at halftime. Despite Astralis' efforts, Complexity reached Map Point first and clinched the series with a 16-14 win.
Winners Match: Heroic vs Faze Clan
Heroic continued their dominance over Faze Clan, securing a 2-0 series victory. On Nuke, Faze Clan had a strong start with an 8-7 halftime score on their T-side. However, Heroic found their footing on their own T-side, reaching Map Point first. Faze Clan forced the map into Overtime with a four-round win streak but failed to maintain their momentum. Heroic ultimately triumphed with a 19-16 score. Carrying their momentum to Inferno, Heroic delivered a stellar T-side, leading 10-5 at halftime. Although Faze Clan made a partial comeback, Heroic closed out the map convincingly with a 16-10 win.
The Results:
Faze Clan, Team Vitality, Imperial Esports and Complexity Gaming all moved onto the Quarterfinals. While G2 Esports and Heroic got a one-way ticket to the Semi Finals of the Blast Premier Spring Finals.
