Astralis' Rise Back to Form: Blast Premier Spring Groups Day 11 Recap

On the final day of the Blast Premier Spring Groups, we saw big matches in Heroic vs BIG, and Astralis vs OG, to see which two teams will claim the remaining spots for the Blast Premier Spring Finals.

Game 1: Heroic vs BIG

BIG picked Vertigo for Map 1, but they had poor form in the first half, managing to only win 2 rounds on their T side. Their CT side was not much better, only managing to win the pistol round, while Heroic closed the map at 16-3. Jabbi and TeSeS were at the top of the table with 21 kills each, the former having a 1.81 rating.

Heroic took us to Ancient for Map 2, where they had a decent start, winning 4 rounds in a row. BIG pushed back this time, and took the lead 5-4. The half ended 8-7 in favor of BIG, after Krimbo pulled out a 1v3 clutch. Both teams trade a few rounds at the beginning of the second half, but it is BIG who reach Map Point first, and then take the map at 16-12. syrsoN topped the table with 25 kills, 19 of them being from the AWP.

The decider was Inferno. And Heroic start out with quite the domination, as they win 9 rounds in a row. The half ends 12-3 in favor of Heroic. Even though BIG were the better team in the second half as they managed 7 round wins, it was Heroic to take the win at 16-10. Stavn had the most kills at 24, and a 1.45 rating.

Game 2: Astralis vs OG

Astralis took us back to Inferno for Map 1. And they got to 8 round wins first, with OG only managing to get a few in between. However, a 4 round win streak from OG ended the half 8-4 in favor of Astralis. OG started the second half in a dominant fashion, winning 6 rounds in a row. Although Astralis managed to pull back a few rounds, it was OG who won the map 16-14. Degster, flameZ and nexa each came in at 22 kills, but it was blameF to top the table at 26 kills.

Vertigo was next, picked by OG. Both teams look evenly matched, as they trade rounds. The half ends at 8-7 in favor of OG. The second half started out quite evenly between the two, with OG taking a 13-10 lead. However, OG only managed to get one more round after this, as Astralis took 4 in a row to win 16-14. However, FlameZ tops the table at 33 kills and 1.68 rating.

Map 3 was Ancient as the decider, where Astralis have a dominating run on their T side. They start off with 3 rounds in a row, and after OG manage to take one back, Astralis win 7 in a row. OG tried to recover with 4 of their own to end the half 10-5. OG found their footing in the second half, managing to take the lead at 14. But a solid 2 rounds from Astralis got them to Map Point. However OG pushed into overtime with a fantastic eco round.

Both teams put on quite a show during overtime, but it’s Astralis who take the map at the end at 19-17. Degster tops the table with 35 kills, but it was dev1ce who got the most AWP kills at 18.

Heroic and Astralis move on to the Spring Finals, while BIG and OG will have to play through the Spring Showdown.
