On February 14, a player named pawt from the team Fun Mix was banned for cheating during an open qualifier for BLAST.tv Paris Major.

The match was being broadcast live by Dust2.us when the player was caught cheating and subsequently banned. As the qualifier’s Round of 16 was about to get underway, the player ‘pawt’ of team Fun Mix was banned by Gamers Club, the platform where the tournament is being held, before the start of the match against Strife Esports.

The casters were initially surprised as to why pawt was removed from the game. But the chat log between the two teams revealed that he was banned for cheating. This resulted in disbelief from both the casters and players.

Watch the clip here.

Prior to the ban, Fun Mix had defeated Canadian team Goomba Stomp in the round of 32 with a 16-13 score. However, this score was overturned when pawt was banned, and Goomba Stomp advanced to the round of 16. Strife then defeated Goomba Stomp 16-2. Qualifying for the round of eight where they will face 4ORMULA in a best-of-three series.

After the ban, the player caught cheating supposedly went live on Twitch. And streamed a pickup game with the same team on which he used the banned software, according to a user on the CS:GO subreddit. It is uncommon for CS:GO players to cheat in qualifiers for any tier-one tournament. Especially for Valve-sponsored Majors, making this incident mind-boggling.

Currently, players from around the world are competing in open qualifiers for the RMR tournaments. In the RMRs, teams will compete for a spot at the upcoming BLAST.tv Paris CS:GO Major. It is scheduled to begin on May 8.
