Yotta is very different to other sweepstakes casinos you may have seen. To get technical, it started out as a prize-linked savings account (PLSA) banking app where you could deposit savings and receive entries into a daily lottery. Another name for this kind of setup is 'gamified savings'.

More recently, Yotta pivoted to offer games and start functioning as a sweepstakes casino, which is why you're reading about it here, but even more recently they were embroiled in a scandal where customers' money was frozen. In short, we'd recommend steering clear of Yotta, but do read on for more details.

Signup bonus at Yotta?

Things are already off to a bad start. You see, I'm used to playing at sweeps casinos like Stake.us where you can get a stack of Gold Coins and Stake Cash to get you started, and I couldn't find a signup Yotta bonus like this at Yotta.

Let me quickly explain Yotta's currencies to avoid any confusion here:

  • There are Tokens, which are broadly similar to Gold Coins. These carry no monetary value, but can be used for fun play on Yotta. You can get them in daily bonuses or buy them in bundles from the token store.
  • Then there's YottaCash, which works similarly to other Sweeps Coins or Stake Cash, but it can't be directly redeemed. Instead, it's used to get tickets for daily prize draws at 9 PM ET. Also if you don't use your YottaCash within 30 days, it expires.

So hopefully you're starting to see how Yotta is similar to other sweeps casinos but also different -- in fact it feels like a downgrade to me. With most other sweeps casinos you can redeem your Sweeps Coins for real cash prizes, but here you just get entries into a lottery.

While they don't have a signup bonus, they do have a daily login bonus that rewards you with 1,000 Tokens + 0.10 free YottaCash. This isn't massive, but at least it's something, and you can trigger it again if you drop below 1,000 Tokens.

Unlike in my Carnival Citi review, there is a first purchase bonus, but I'll get to that later in the payments section.

Check the T&Cs

If you still want to hit the Yotta register button, you need to check out the T&Cs to make sure you qualify. Similarly to the Carnival Citi promo code, Yotta is available in most states but not all, and you must be 18 or over to partake. FYI, the states that users cannot join Yotta from are Idaho, Washington, Louisiana, and Nevada.

I was worried that with such a novel concept and poor reputation the site would look like a confused mish-mash, but that wasn't the case actually.

With everything clearly set against a fresh, white background, it's easy on the eye, and I found no loading problems or glitches during my time on Yotta.

Yes, the site's color scheme feels notably different; it really sets Yotta apart from most online casinos who generally like to make everything feel dark, like the inside of real casinos tend to be. I guess the white is left over from Yotta's banking app days and lines up more with the feel of other banking apps.

Everything is set out with clear options in the left hand menu so you are in no doubt of where you need to go. The modest games roster makes it easy to navigate around -- you can see all the games without the need for fancy filtering or scrolling.

Usability is an area where this app/site actually excels.

Download the app

Alongside the desktop version of their site, Yotta offers an app for both iOS and Android. This makes sense, given that Yotta originally began as a banking app.

To download it, head to the Apple App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android. You might also want to check out some of the negative reviews from users who aren’t happy with Yotta’s practices!

That said, not every successful sweepstakes casino needs an app, as Stake.us has shown. Stake.us only has a website, which works excellently on desktop, mobile, and other devices.

Add to your balance

While purchases are not compulsory, you might want to take advantage of the Yotta first purchase offer.

Through this promotion you can get 250,000 Tokens and 10 free YottaCash for $5 -- that's not too bad for a first purchase deal, and with good deals in short supply, it could be the only decent one you get around here. You can spend these two currencies on Yotta's games to play for fun (Tokens) or to play with a view to entering their daily lottery (YottaCash).

Also payment options on Yotta are extremely limited. In fact, there's only one and it's debit card, which is frankly a very paltry offering. In terms of redemptions, you can receive these via bank transfer, but you can't pay in via bank transfer. This is another mark against their name.

Stake.us offers cards, as well as multiple cryptocurrency options, putting it ahead in this regard. In fact, pretty much any other online casino has Yotta beat here.

‘Learn’ and get support at Yotta

Fortunately, if you want help from Yotta, it comes in many forms, and this is an area where Yotta scores well again. First, there is the ‘learning’ option which takes you through a FAQ-style process that has answers to most queries.

You'll also have the support function fired up from your home screen, where you can speak to a live operator, or if none is available, you leave your question for them to get back to you. The response should take less than 24 hours, and for my query a customer service agent got back to me within the hour. There's also an email option and a phone number, and we imagine getting in touch via social media would be fine too.

Is Yotta sweepstakes casino a scam?

The short answer is that we don't believe the casino to be a scam per se, but we would recommend you stay away from using their banking features for definite -- you could comfortably that area of their offering a scam, as many who have deposited money with Yotta are currently unable to withdraw it, which is madness!

However, we're here to speak about sweeps casinos, not banking, so in that regard, Yotta do seem to be following all the required legislation. Their site is encrypted with SSL protection, and they have responsible gambling control options, such as setting a budget for your gameplay.

All that said, we can't get the sour taste out of our mouth from the Yotta banking fiasco, and we don't recommend them as a trusted platform in general. When there are better and safer options out there, like Stake.us, I'm not sure why you'd want to take a chance with Yotta. It's fun to bet coins within sweeps casinos, but it's not fun to bet on whether the platform itself is legit!

Getting more coins at Yotta

You’ve already seen that the bonus here is nothing like what you’d claim with a ClubWPT promo code, and there is a sort of VIP club, but it's far from worth it in my opinion.

'Yott Club' is Yotta's membership program, featuring three tiers:

  • Sailor
  • Captain
  • Admiral

Each level offers increased YottaCash and perks. But, for example, to qualify as a Yott Club Sailor in a given month, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Set up direct deposit and receive at least $1,000 in paychecks deposited into your account.
  2. Spend a minimum of $500 using your Yotta debit or credit cards.

By doing this you’ll only earn $1 in YottaCash. You will receive a Yott Club Sailor badge for that month, but it's essentially worthless.

You will also earn Yotta Boxes for each action taken. Each Yotta Box contains a chance to win prizes, so when you accumulate a certain number of Yotta Boxes, you can open them to see what you've won, which can include various rewards or entries into sweepstakes. But in our experience, this kind of thing really isn't worth it, and is starting to cross over into using their banking features, which we would strongly advise against.

Somewhere like Stake.us has promos similar to the above, plus a fully legit VIP program with multiple tiers that are worth taking advantage of, without having to invest huge sums of cash. This kind of thing can really keep you engaged and coming back for more, unlike the patchy offerings from Yotta.

Unusual games and lottery provide a different experience

Yotta has arcade-style games, along with table games and slots -- it's actually a decent variety.

If you like to try out original games you may not have seen elsewhere, Yotta has 13 of its own titles currently. Their most prominent game is Moonshot, where players wager tickets in a race against time. The objective is to escape a rocket before it explodes. Players place their bets during a countdown, and if they successfully eject before the rocket detonates, they can earn more tickets. While the game's premise may seem exciting, the tension of waiting for the right moment to escape can be stressful!

In terms of table games you can play blackjack, video poker, roulette, hilo and the likes, and for slots you have titles like Royal Joker and Wild Tiger developed by Playson. All games can be played for either Tokens or YottaCash. To switch between the two available playing modes, tap 'Use Tokens' or 'Use YottaCash'.

Coins - how does Yotta casino work?

Here’s a recap of what the two currencies can be used for:

  • Tokens - These are in plentiful supply and are the default coin for playing the games here. You can pick some up for free any time your balance gets below 1000, or you can buy a larger amount if you wish. These have no value outside of Yotta and cannot be exchanged, withdrawn or redeemed as they are there purely for your entertainment.
  • YottaCash - YottaCash was previously called Tickets, so you may still see this term used in places on the site. YC can be used to play the games, and winnings can be redeemed for real world prizes by entering the daily lotteries. YC cannot be bought and needs to be either 1) won 2) given to you as a free gift on a Token purchase 3) requested via a mail-in request. If you have money saved with Yotta, you also get YottaCash as ‘interest’.

Games and coins conclusion

Yotta's game selection is unique and might be fun, especially if you like arcade-style games and original titles. However, I'm not a fan of the coin system and the way it's mixed up with the lottery and banking function, which, as we know, has major questions around it.

Yotta casino FAQs

🚀 Is Yotta all just sweepstakes lottery games?

Yotta has a reputation for lottery games, but you’ll see there’s more to the site than just that now. Unusual games like Moonshot and Wonder Wheel are playable with both Tokens and YottaCash, and you have the chance of real-world prizes when playing with YC.

⚖️ Is Yotta sweepstakes casino legit?

As we said above, we believe the casino aspect of Yotta may be legitimate, but the banking side is not, and this makes us doubt the platform as a whole.

🔍 What happened to Tickets?

Tickets were formerly used to play the lottery games on the site, but have now been replaced by YottaCash, which has much the same function. You might still see the word Tickets still used on the site, but it is interchangeable with the phrase YottaCash.

Our conclusion on Yotta

Yotta is an interesting concept with a strange and shady history -- it started as a banking app and is now a sweepstakes casino, but the banking side of their business has had some major scandals.

While it does well in terms of usability and games, we feel the platform is not to be trusted because of how they've essentially locked away thousands of customers' bank balances! I'm so glad I never signed up for banking with them because I'd be infuriated.

There are other negatives too, such as no VIP program, no welcome bonus, and limitations on how you can redeem your YottaCash. All this adds up to a platform we would recommend you stay away from.

We've mentioned alternatives throughout this review, and, in closing, the main one I'd like to direct you towards again is Stake.us. It fills in all the blanks that Yotta leaves and more, and there are zero concerns over its legitimacy.
