I did this Webull review to know exactly how the platform works and what type of event contracts are available. Ever since Webull partnered with Kalshi to launch its prediction markets, there's been quite a lot of buzz.
Now that I've gotten to see what goes on first-hand, I'm more than impressed, seeing as my experience was mostly good. What goes on here is basically what happens at other prediction market platforms. You'll be monitoring price shifts on real-world events and predicting their outcomes. In this guide, I'll show you how it all works.
Event contract trading on Webull is highly speculative and may not be for everyone. With that out of the way, you've got to understand that Webull markets allow you to predict outcomes on various events tied to everyday life. Basically, you'll be deciding between two simple alternatives that have been set up in yes/no binary formats.
It's not different from what I stated in my DraftKings Predict review. You simply buy “Yes” shares if you believe an event will happen or “No” shares if you suspect it won't. Each contract will be priced between $0.01 and $0.99, which can be interpreted as probabilities. So for example, if a “Yes” contract is trading at $0.45 in the market, you can interpret that as the market estimating a 45% likelihood of the event happening.
Assuming your prediction ends up being correct, you'll get a $1 payout for each contract. Yes, you can purchase multiple amounts of the same contract. If, on the other hand, your prediction is a dud, the contract settles at $0 and you get nothing. It's important to note that Webull event contracts are classified as a cleared swap. That means they involve two parties who have agreed to exchange a contract for a future event. For every buyer, there must be a trader willing to sell.
Only index and crypto contracts were first rolled out when Webull opened up its prediction markets. Now, the categories have expanded to include more sectors from politics to sports. With the exception of cryptocurrency event contracts, most other contracts are subject to typical trading hours, as per Webull's policy. For hourly event contracts, trading times are generally from 8 AM to 4 PM EST. Fed rate event contracts, however, will typically trade from 8 AM to 11 PM EST.
For economic, culture, and sports-related event contracts, you'll have access to them 24/7. That, of course, is outside of any maintenance windows on the Webull desktop or app. Now that I've cleared up what Webull is, here's a quick look at each market featured on the platform.
Sports predictions are the center of the Webull platform. Both pre-match and live markets on different leagues and tournaments are available to predict on. Remember, the format being used here is the binary “Yes” and “No” structure. You'll basically be choosing outcomes in response to markets like totals and match winners that are phrased as questions. A variety of sports are available to predict, with my top favorites being hockey, basketball, tennis, and soccer.
The crypto prediction markets are another top category I enjoyed playing in during my Webull review. Most markets revolved around calling the price swings of various popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, and Solana. Depending on your preference, you can stick to short-term predictions or those with long-term durations, or even combine both to spread your risk.
Many US traders, as well as those in the Sleeper Markets review, follow politics keenly. I also find political developments important, so naturally, the politics category on Webull was my next port of call. Fortunately, a lineup of events surrounding the US elections is presented. You'll be able to make predictions on gubernatorial races, presidential nominees, and even winners of Senate seats. Markets that cover the relationship of the US with other countries are also available.
This category includes everything about the entertainment industry and modern culture. If these are subjects that you find exciting, there are markets on Webull that will allow you to trade prediction contracts on your favorite culture events. The number options are not as extensive as what you'll find on sports or cryptocurrencies, but there's a decent variety to enjoy. The most interesting ones I came across were in areas like TV shows, celebrity lifestyle, award ceremonies, billboard music rankings, and movie releases.
Just like politics, US economics is another subject I find particularly important to daily life. And coincidentally, many Webull users feel the same way. This category has one of the highest contract trading volumes and features a good selection of markets on key economic indicators. A few include employment figures, inflation rates, expected GDP growth, and Federal Reserve interest rate decisions.
As I had mentioned earlier, Webull only rolled out its prediction markets section in 2025, so the site had operated as a general trading hub before that. To start trading event contracts, the onboarding procedure requires an application, which is most similar to what I explained in my Coinbase review. So basically, you should already have an existing Webull brokerage account to apply.
With that out the way, if it's your first time visiting or using the Webull platform, I've provided a more detailed guide to get you started below. It will take you around 10 minutes to complete because some specific requirements are needed.
Visit the official website: Start by tapping any of the banners on this page, and you'll be redirected to the Webull platform. Once there, you can either download the official Android/iOS app to register and continue with the next steps or just finish up on the website.
Open and verify your new account: Choose your preferred sign-up method between the email and phone options. Then you'll need to verify your account by tapping the “Send Code” button to receive a 6-digit verification code. Enter this code in the field provided on the website and continue.
Select an account type: On this step, you're expected to choose between a cash account and a margin account. They both operate similarly, but with one small difference. In cash accounts, you can only trade contracts with deposited funds, while margin accounts let you borrow money from Webull to kind of boost your contract trading capital.
Provide personal details: Enter your personal information on the page, such as your full name, residential address, and date of birth. Your employment information, alongside your SSN or ITIN and a few other details, will also be needed.
Complete the questionnaire: To ensure you're a good candidate for contract trading, you'll be given a questionnaire to fill out. The information needed here will have to do with your investment experience, income level, and risk tolerance.
Submit application and wait for approval: Go through your application to confirm that everything is accurate, then submit it. You'll then need to wait a few hours as Webull reviews your information. As soon as your application is approved, you'll be sent an email or push message via the app.
Start trading contracts: At this point, you can then apply to prediction markets using your existing account. To do this, go to the “Events” section and provide the necessary information.
New traders who complete registration are eligible for a Webull bonus of $20 in fractional shares. An additional 30 days of free Webull Premium will be made available as well, and no Webull promo code is required to activate these perks. But I noticed a small catch while trying to access the offers. Apparently, you'll need to deposit $500 or more into your new account to unlock the new user bonus.
Also, none of the offers are designed for prediction markets. You can only use the bonus funds for regular trading. If you accumulate winnings, you can use them to trade the binary “Yes” and “No” contracts as I described earlier on Webull markets. It's not quite what I expected, but it's still something to look forward to. Several other promotions are also featured on the platform, and they include:
Like the welcome bonus, these promotions are not directed at the prediction markets on Webull. They're meant for the general trading ecosystem on the platform. But since you can use funds from your gains to buy contracts, then they were certainly worth mentioning.
VIP and loyalty are a delightful addition to the promotions catalog at any prediction market platform. But from what I saw, Webull has chosen not to feature one, at least not in the way I expected. What's available instead is the Webull Premium account, which is essentially a subscription service that gives you access to exclusive perks.
To subscribe to the premium service, you'll be charged $3.99 per month or $40 per year. Of course, membership is completely optional and does not interfere with your trades in the prediction markets. Some notable benefits you'll be able to access if you choose to join include lower margin rates, real-time market data, and higher IRA matches.
In terms of user experience, Webull has gone over and above to make sure traders enjoy smooth predictions. The website is fully intuitive and functions well on both desktop and mobile browsers. The first time I went about checking out the platform, I used a Samsung smartphone, and it felt smooth, given the clean, plain design of the platform.
As a trading-oriented platform, graphs, charts, and other real-time monitoring features are often shown. This sheer amount of data may be a lot to take in, especially as a beginner using a PC or mobile browser. So, Webull developed two native apps, one for Android and the other for iOS devices, to offer a more simplified and convenient experience.
Thanks to the simple layout and overall design of these applications, it's easier to get around the prediction markets under “Events”. Features, such as notifications, which are already available on the website, have been upgraded here. So instead of just regular notifications that appear in your profile, you can activate push messages on the app to get alerted even when your phone is not in use.
You can download each app from the Webull website, or you simply visit the respective app stores to install them directly. Either way, you'll be getting the same software, with the following details:
| Application | Size | Rating | Device OS requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Android version | 98 MB | 4.0 | Android 8.1 and above |
| iOS version | 417.8 MB | 4.7 | iOS 14.0 and above |
The prediction markets section is operated through Webull Futures LLC, which is fully registered in the United States. Oversight is provided by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), so yeah, Webull's is certainly not in doubt. Before signing up for an account on the website or app, you must be at least 18 years old.
You must also have a Social Security Number (SSN) or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), which will be requested during registration. KYC verification is mandatory for all registered users of the platform, and without it, your account will not be approved. I also checked and confirmed that SSL encryption protocols are in place, alongside an optional 2FA feature for added security.
If you plan to trade Yes/No binary contracts at Webull, you'll need funds in your account. Fortunately, payments can be made using a couple of options like debit cards, ACH transfers, and wire transfers. Card payments take around 30 minutes to be processed, while US domestic wire transfers can take up to 1 business day. For ACH, you can expect anywhere from 2 to 3 business days on average, so it's my least favorite option. For the fee structure, I've provided a clear outline below, so you'll know what you'll be paying.
If you ever run into any problems in the prediction markets, there are two ways to get through assistance you need. The first is an email option, but you might have to wait up to 24 hours for a response. For the second option, which is my personal favorite, you can call in and get through to an agent within 2 minutes. An in-app messaging feature is also provided. It lets you submit a ticket and get a response via email. These are the contact details listed on the platform:
