After reviewing the core features of OpenThePack and concentrating on what you can rip, Iāve decided to take a different approach for this OpenThatPack promo code guide, and look exclusively at its bonuses and deals.
While Iāve not really seen any type of welcome offer, there looks to be a fantastic referral program where you can get a bonus on 5% of your friendās deposits, plus a cool rewards system that can give you cashback on your purchases and your card sellbacks. If you read on, Iāll go through these other features and more.
Whenever I sign up to a mystery box site like this, the first thing I check is for a welcome bonus for new customers, and unfortunately, OpenThatPack let me down. At the time I created this guide, there was NO signup offer. I created my login, opened the site, and got nothing - I was simply able to make a deposit, browse the different packs, and check out the other features.
I was vaguely disappointed about this - a free pack or a small deposit bonus would be a nice gesture at least, but itās not exactly uncommon with mystery box sites. I think out of 7 sites that Iāve reviewed recently, only one had any type of welcome offer, so itās just not a common feature for this type of operator. Letās hope that they add something in the future once the site has been up and running for a while and they have an established customer base.
Something I also considered is that OpenThatPack is a little different from other mystery box sites. With most sites, you can rip a range of custom operator-built packs with a load of different potential drops in. However, with OpenThatPack, you are opening digital versions of ACTUAL trading card boosters such as the Pokemon Ascended Heroes booster pack. I think that because of how it works, and the relative lower price of the packs, something like a sign up bonus might not be as feasible.
Actually getting started at OpenThatPack took me a couple of seconds and it uses a login process as opposed to an actual signup form. If you want to give this site a try yourself, you can do the following:
Click any of the OTP banners on this page.
Click the login button.
Choose your login method (Google, Apple, MetaMask).
Enter the relevant login details.
Thatās it! I didnāt even have to do any verification which I found a little strange. Despite this though, I had no reservations about the security or privacy and you can read more about these things in my separate OpenThatPack review.
With your login completed, you can click on the blue plus symbol next to your account balance to make a deposit, or you can check out their amazing array of booster packs for Pokemon, Magic, Riftbound, and One Piece.
While there isnāt a welcome bonus, I DID find a rewards program which I think could be fantastic for loyal customers. It works with an XP system, where you get XP for buying packs and taking the sellback offers for the cards you get.
This XP then boosts your rewards level, and there are two types of bonus you can get as a result:
I found that this basically gives you a double-pronged type of rakeback, where the higher your rewards level, the less you effectively spend per pack. As far as I can see, this is a permanent set of bonuses that apply to all your purchases and sellback offers going forward. In the table below, you can see the current rewards level, and the coinciding cashback and sellback bonuses:
| Rewards Level | Cashback Bonus | Sellback Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 1% | 1% |
| 20 | 2% | 2% |
| 30 | 2.5% | 3% |
| 40 | 3% | 4% |
| 50 | 4% | 5% |
| 60 | 4.5% | 6% |
| 70 | 5% | 7% |
| 80 | 6% | 8% |
| 90 | 7% | 9% |
| 100 | 8% | 10% |
I got to L10 pretty quickly and without too much of a spend, and I found that you have to manually claim any cashback and sellback bonus you get. This is done by clicking on the rewards button and clicking the relevant claim button - the bonus is then credited directly to your account balance.
So, weāve gone over the rewards program, and the fact that they appear to have forgotten about a welcome bonus, what next? Well, thereās a few other bonuses and important features I wanted to go over including the referral scheme and the trade feature.
After the rewards system, I think the affiliate program (this is what they call their refer-a-friend program) is the standout feature. When you create your OpenThatPack login, youāll get a unique referral link or code which you can copy by clicking on your profile icon in the top right corner, and then clicking the affiliate button.
Itās then a case of giving out your unique code or link to other people. In terms of how the system works, and the potential bonus you can get, itās a flat 5% bonus on your friendās DEPOSITS. So, for example, if your friend used your link to login, and then made a $100 deposit, you would get a $5 referral bonus - easy. I like this approach, and from my testing, thereās no limit on how many referrals you can have, nor how many bonuses you can get from their deposits.
One feature I was not 100% sure on was the Trade page. I THINK this is a type of marketplace BUT, you can buy specific cards that OpenThatPack are selling - NOT cards from other users. I really like this feature as if thereās something you really want, and you donāt think thereās a high percentage chance of getting it from a pack, you can just buy it direct.
Thereās a major difference though - instead of trading for cold hard cash, you trade using the value of your cards. So, for example, I fancied getting a Pokemon Charizard ex Ultra Rare which had a trade value of $37.47 - all I had to do was add cards to the trade block that equaled that value and I would be able to make the swap. This is really cool as it opens up a whole new world of possibilities and can be really useful for collectors wanting specific items.
While you can simply accept the buyback offer for the cards you rip from the packs, if like me, you are an actual collector and you want to build your card stash, you can have any cards shipped to an address of your choice.
Shipping is done via UPS which is a global courier, and you get free deliveries for orders over $100. In terms of delivery times, they aim to deliver within 1-3 business days for orders within the US, and a signature is required for acceptance of the parcel. However, the shipping time will ultimately vary depending on your location and other factors.
I wanted to briefly explain the potential packs that you can buy and rip here too, although Iāve given a more thorough breakdown in my complete OpenThatPack review. At this point in time, they have booster packs for the following:
The important thing to remember is that these are digital versions of ACTUAL booster packs. For instance, you can buy the Pokemon Ascended Heroes booster pack which is especially popular for $11, and the One Piece Royal Blood booster pack for $7. With each pack, the site then uses a randomizer with odds taken from the actual manufacturers guidelines to determine the contents.
This is a pretty revolutionary concept as Iāve never seen actual booster packs for sale before at mystery box sites. I know that the guys at OpenThatPack arenāt actually opening the physical packs when you rip them, BUT, they do have the actual physical card version of your digital pulls, and you can get them shipped to you if you want, which is fantastic.
That finishes my OpenThatPack bonus code guide, and my main takeaway was that the bonuses they provide are simply value-added features - they are NOT the main focus of the site. Sure, a welcome bonus would be epic, but Iām more than happy with the referral program and the rewards system, and most importantly, Iām also happy with the quality, price, and variety of the packs you can rip.
I think the fact that you can generally buy Pokemon, Magic, Riftbound, and One Piece packs for a little bit cheaper than the typical resale value is a huge plus, and the site itself is fun to use. So, I wouldnāt hesitate to recommend it, and all you need to do is click the banners weāve got on this page if you want to sign up and start ripping.
Not that Iāve seen. Thereās no welcome bonus, and any promos that they do have such as the referral program and rewards program donāt use codes either. That doesnāt mean there wonāt be OpenThatPack bonus codes in the future!
I didnāt get one. At this point, it looks like they do NOT have any type of welcome bonus which is a shame. However, there IS a pretty good referral program and rewards scheme which are worth looking into.
OpenThatPack will ship any card that you rip from a pack either to a US or worldwide address. As far as I can see there are no destinations that they do not deliver to. Shipping is free for orders over $100, but delivery times will vary depending on multiple factors including the number of cards and your location.
Keep them in your collection. Sell them back to OTP for their buyback offer value. Get the physical cards shipped to your address either in the US or internationally.
