Interactive Brokers is a financial company that has recently opened a P2P prediction market exchange, where it features tradable predictions provided by Kalshi, the CME Group, and ForecastEx on things like politics, the climate, and elections.
I’ve been creating a full Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets review based on my findings while testing and researching this new product. Straight from the off, I’ve been impressed with what it offers, and I think it’s one of the most professional P2P exchanges I’ve used, with plenty of markets and trade volume.
Exactly like I did in my Sleeper Markets review, I’m going to kick things off by making sure this is a legitimate prediction exchange, and doing an initial sweep to see what I can find. After a quick glance, the quality and legitimacy of the brand stood out to me, and I immediately got the impression that this is a professional operation.
The first thing I found with Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets is that it does NOT provide its own prediction markets. This isn’t a bad thing though. Instead, Kalshi, the CME Group, and ForecastEx provide the prediction markets for IBKR. As a result, you actually get the benefit of three top prediction exchanges, their trading volume, and the diverse collection of predictions they have.
Still, IBKR is a Commodity and Futures Trading Commission-regulated operator. Additionally, ForecastEx, CME Group, and Kalshi are all CFTC regulated too, which means all four can legally offer their prediction market services in the US. I checked out all the relevant regulatory information and their terms of service and everything was as I expected.
Another superb feature I found at IBKR was its support setup. It actually operates a massive support center that covers all of its financial products. Now, you can’t speak to anyone via a live chat. BUT, the help center is especially detailed, and they have different support sections for the various financial products, including the prediction markets.
I was able to use this help center to find out a lot of information relating to trading fees, how the prediction markets work, trade contracts, and their regulatory compliance.
I immediately saw that the Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets site had great security. The first thing I noticed was SSL encryption, and when I compiled this Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets review, there was an active SSL certificate provided by DigiCert. The registration process is also pretty vigorous, as you will need to complete some initial verification.
Aside from direct security features, I was impressed with the documentation the site has relating to how their P2P exchange and trade contracts work. For instance, the landing page has an entire FAQ section detailing exactly what you can do and how the predictions are used. There are also documents for their accessibility policy, anti-fraud notice, forms and disclosures, and a privacy policy.
The banking setup might differ for each individual, but I was able to credit my account here using ACH Bank Transfer, Bank Wire, Online Transfer, and a selected range of cryptocurrency Stablecoins. I always found payments to be easy to make, with plenty of optional security features. My deposits were credited instantly, and I never had a withdrawal that took longer than 24 hours.
When I created my Moomoo review, I was sure to check out the fees and I did exactly the same with Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets. Things are a little more complex here because there are three different exchanges who provide the markets. Regardless, you can see a summary table below:
| Provider | Contract Type | Fee (per contract) |
|---|---|---|
| Kalshi | Kalshi Event Contracts | $0.01 |
| Kalshi | Third Party Trading Fees - Exchange Fee | $0.01 |
| ForecastEX | ForecastEX Contracts | N/A |
| ForecastEX | Third Party Trading Fees - Exchange Fee | $0.01 |
| CME Group | CME Event Contracts | $0.01 |
| CME Group | Third Party Trading Fees - Exchange Fee | $0.01 |
With my Coinbase review, I spent a little bit of time on the usability, but I wanted to go more in depth with IBKR Prediction Markets. From the moment I first opened the site, I knew this was an operator that prioritized usability, and I enjoyed both the desktop and mobile versions of this prediction exchange.
Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets has done a standout job of making its website look visually appealing, minimalist, and easy to use. First up, the color scheme and theme are pretty simple - it’s mainly white which helps reduce visual clutter, but there’s bits of red and black too for contracts. The text readability is spot on, and I like the staggered approach they’ve used for the main navigation.
By this, I mean that along the top, there are links to the different prediction categories, such as Elections and Financial Markets. If you then click on a single category, underneath that menu, you get a sub menu that shows any sub categories - it’s just very logical, clean, and easy to find the predictions you want to trade.
I like how they present each prediction too - red and green colors are used for the yes and no options, and you get a detailed graph that shows the price trends for the trade contracts over time. Lastly, the site is well-built - you’ve got fast page speeds, no missing content or broken links, and as far as I could see, everything works as intended.
I mainly stick to desktop trading, but I still reviewed the two mobile apps that you can download for IBKR Prediction Markets. These are essentially all-in-one apps called IBKR Mobile and you can use them to access all of the company’s products. You can download them from the App Store for iOS devices, or the Play Store for Android devices, and I noticed they had the following ratings:
Generally, other customer sentiment is positive, however, I did notice a few comments saying they had technical issues with the app, and that they struggled to reach the customer support team. When I used the two apps, I tested these things and could not replicate the same issues. Generally, they have done a great job of making the apps just as usable as the desktop site, and I will certainly use the Android version again on my Samsung Galaxy.
I have created a separate Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets promo code review where you can find more details about things like the signup bonus. BUT, I’ll at least give you a snippet here, so you know what you are potentially walking into if you use our banners and register with them.
When I went through the signup process at IBKR Prediction Markets, I saw a notice stating that there is a $10 signup bonus. Now, I know that isn’t a huge amount. HOWEVER, do you know what you have to do to get it? Just sign up - that’s it. If you use the banners I’ve placed here and sign up, IBKR Prediction Markets will give you $10 for free.
What’s more is that you can use this $10 credit as you wish. You could use it to trade predictions, OR, you could simply withdraw it straight away without any other stipulations. These T&Cs make that $10 sound much better, and I like what they’ve done with their welcome bonus. It’s not much, but at the same time, it can be incredibly useful.
Similar to most other P2P prediction exchanges that I have reviewed recently, including my Moomoo review, IBKR Prediction Markets doesn’t offer many other promotional features. From my experiences with prediction sites, it’s not the “done thing” - there might be something like a signup bonus, and perhaps a referral program, but there’s never the same amount of promos as something like an online sportsbook or casino.
That being said, the ONE other feature I did find was a 3.12% APY daily interest on held positions.
With this, you buy specific long term trade contracts, but instead of selling them on, you hold them for a prolonged period. During that time, you then accrue 3.12% APY daily interest on the value of your held positions (held positions are active trade contracts you hold that haven't been resolved yet).
Next in this Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets Review I want to look at the actual trade contracts and predictions you can trade! These are the foundations of the site, and the top P2P exchanges all offer a diverse collection of categories and markets, and I think that IBKR is right up there. We also have to remember that IBKR gets its predictions from Kalshi, CME Group, and ForecastEx, so it does have a huge potential pool of markets to pull from which gives it an advantage.
First, I looked at the main categories that Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets offers, and I found the following:
For elections, you’ve got options for both US and international markets such as government elections, and US senator elections. The financial markets section is loaded with predictions relating to commodities, corporate activity, and cryptocurrency prices. There’s also a cool section relating to stock market indices and index performances.
I also like the Environmental section too, and it’s one of the most detailed I’ve seen. It has all the standard predictions relating to daily temperature highs from around the world, but I also found predictions relating to climate change, natural disasters, and even things like crop yield.
Looking at the IBKR list of predictions, I immediately noticed a certain tonal shift. There is an emphasis on important real world events, and to me, it feels like their predictions are aimed more at professionals, and those with prior trading knowledge. I also noted that there are no sports predictions, and they do not plan on adding any as it does not fit with their ethos and vision.
Because the prediction markets are drawn from three other sources, you actually get a good trade volume for most contracts. For instance, I checked out a range of the cryptocurrency predictions, and many of them had a trade volume that spanned into the millions. Additionally, the trades I made were fulfilled pretty quickly, and I never had problems getting my orders matched. This makes for good liquidity, and means you are less likely to get stuck with dud trade contracts.
If you want a more professional prediction trading experience, I think IBKR could be a great choice. While creating my Interactive Brokers Prediction Markets review, it was clear the types of customers they are trying to appeal to, and I think that anyone who already has investments and is used to trading will find their services and features engaging.
The site looks great, they have a diverse collection of prediction markets, and a simple fee structure that still offers plenty of room for potential returns, even with higher-value trade contracts. On top of that, there’s also the potential $10 welcome bonus which can give new customers a decent boost to start with. To get signed up here yourself and try it out, you can use any of the banners or links I’ve put on this page.
Yes. Interactive Brokers itself is regulated by the CTFC, but it also offers its prediction markets via Kalshi, the CME Group, and ForecastEx which are all also Commodity and Futures Trading Commission regulated exchanges/derivatives providers.
It is a product offered by Interactive Brokers, which in itself is a financial company that offers a range of financial and investment services. The Prediction Market product is specifically a peer-2-peer trading exchange where you can buy, sell, and hold trade contracts for different real-world predictions.
This is a P2P prediction exchange. The predictions are provided by Kalshi, ForecastEx, and the CME Group. Customers can register with IBKR using the banners we have on this page and then start buying and selling trade contracts based on these predictions. Categories include financials, tech, the economy, politics, government, and the environment.
No. You don’t “win real money”. Instead, you have the option of buying, selling, and holding prediction trade contracts. If you hold your trade contracts and they settle, “in-the-money”, this means you got the prediction right, and in this instance, you’d get a $1 return minus any trading fees.
They have a variable fee structure depending on the original provider of the prediction. Typically, from my experience, the maximum potential fee is $0.02 per transaction, but they can be as low as $0.01 too.
